120 in a row is my current record.
I shouldn't give sleeping advice. I can sleep anytime, anywhere I had a 2 hour nap coming back in on a 20ft boat in 3ft seas last summer.

5-6 is my max and then I'm just a total vicious bitch to everyone around me cause I'm so tired/cranky.
I met a strike nurse years ago that would work as many as you. He would work 120-140 12s in a row....and then be off the rest of the year.

Step 1. Stop giving a frick about everything & everyone else on Earth.
Step 2. Start giving a frick again about four months later but with a shitload more money than before step 1.

can't be done
get another job/career
studies indicate multiple issues with it. less sleep. personality disorders, health problems. more suicide.

I also turn down my A/C so it's cold....but that's just me.

Sleeps mask and one Tylenol PM. I like my room cool and the TV or radio on low. Of course no caffeine during the last half of the shift. I try to get in bed asap. Also, I treat getting sleep like a job. I don't give up on it. I lay in the bed even if I feel like I can't sleep. Usually that feeling passes and I get some extra zzzs eventually.

I did 60 days of 7-12s then rolled right into 90 Nights. In bed for 5 and up at 230ish, felt like death when id wake, but by 7/8 pm i'd feel fine. No life outside of work but it was just temporary. No way i would recommend any one do that frequently.

Guaranteed way to fall asleep after a night shift: Take a hot shower, eat a good breakfast, get in bed with a jizz towel and rub one out. Most days I wake up with my underwear still down around my knees. That's some gooooooood sleep.

I'm using black out curtains, taking a 10mg melatonin, showering prior to bed, eating a hearty meal, and the heater is turned down to 60 as I open the hotel room window. (I'm in North dakota) so the room is a brisk 50-55° when I get up. Nothing has worked.
The only other thing I do is use a box fan to give me that steady noise. It keeps you from hearing the other noises around you.
If you nap at work it really hurts your ability to sleep during the day.

Cold dark room with sound machine, box fan, etc.

I did night shift rotations for 2 years, and now I have a job where I sometimes have to wake up at 2am, do a couple of hours of work, then go back to bed.
Blackout curtains, a fan for white noise, and melatonin will be your best friends.

How do you accustom your body to day sleeping when you go from working days to nights? I have been experiencing trouble lately getting any sleep at all after my night shift. I typically can fall asleep by 8, after getting off at 6, but I wake up between 11:30 and 1:00 every day. Wide awake and unable to fall back asleep. It's been three weeks now and it's really starting to wear on me. Any suggestions? ETA: making matters worse I'm on the road and in a hotel.
Mrs. Bard is a flight attendant and does red-eye transcontinental flights. She's also an insanely light sleeper. Blackout curtains + earplugs + turn on the A/C or a fan (any kind of white-ish noise, really) and some Melatonin (the chocolate kind that dissolve on your mouth are good) seem to work pretty well.

Some kind of background noise is all I can suggest being you're in a hotel.

Go on a morning jog before work. You'll be more energized at work and you will sleep better.

Some people can't take it because of their type of job.

I get off at 7am and sometimes wake up around 12 or 1. Normally it was just an isolated incident and I'd power through for a night, but like you it happened for a few weeks straight. If I woke at 1 I'd immediately take a dose of nyquil, rub one out, and sleep until 5p to be back at work for 630

Here ya go... If you are at a hotel with a slide in room air conditioner request at the desk for the loudest they have. Get an extra blanket and sleep on the floor right next to it running on Hi.
Make a tent from top of air conditioning unit and the bed. Sleep under that.
Makes it cozy and cold and the noise will keep your asleep.
I've done that before. Sounds like a lot to do jsut to sleep but worth it.
I've even got a roll in extra bed from the lobby and put that mattress on the floor next to the AC unit for added comfort
