Long story short, we had already moved and packed up about 60% of our shite in a POD and sent it on it's way. Paid a moving company $6000 to come in and move the remaining stuff, packing included and all. They stored our stuff for about a week and then a crew drove it 3 hours to our new house and are about to start unloading. How much should we tip?

I worked at a moving company for a summer way back when. My favorite tip was $20/guy and a case of beer for a 3 man crew.

Last time i dealt with movers, I think they were tipped $20 a piece. Or maybe it was $10 and a $20 to the guy in charge

I think they might be driving back to Memphis tonight so the beer part would be interesting

That would be like not tipping your truck salesman just because you paid $75,000 for a truck.

Paid the company $6k, sure. The crew guys aren't making that.

Not every mover deserves a tip. Some do IMO.

They aren't making a shite wage that is expected to be subsidized by tips either.

Not that you're saying that. I think $20 and beer is fine.

Ehhhh

Like I said, it's not expected or required IMO, but a good moving crew saves you time and headaches compared to a shite one.

I want to see a list of who we don’t tip these days.

The other week, someone started a thread on the OT asking how much people tip their nurses at the hospital.

1000000%

We've used the same company twice. The guys are incredible and fast as hell.

Apparently there's 2 unloading, there were 4 loading. Not sure if they are the same guys though since we had already moved and were 3 hours away when the rest of the house was packed up. My dad was there to supervise. they have another load in the morning so they aren't staying here, thus beer is out.

They make like $20/hour. Do we tip any other workers who make that much?

I wish I never worked for one. I'm too particular now to let other people do it Hopefully I don't move for another 15 years or so and change my tune by then.
