That's nowhere close to true.

$6,000! HOLY POO!

This reminds me of something that happened to me two days ago. funniest thing...

I agreed to go pick up a dresser for my best friend's mom and bring it to her house. She bought it off some lady on FB. Get to the lady's house, she is sweet as can be. But also obviously on like painkillers or some shite.. talks slow and slurred. At one point, she is on the phone with her husband and I hear her ask him "how much should I pay them," talking about me and my buddy. LOL! She thought she should pay us for buying a dresser from her. Too sweet/stupid for her own good

I absolutely loathe packing and moving.

They were the middle of the road option for the options that would pack everything. We moved 300 miles away and needed our stuff to be stored for a week since we closed on our old house a week before we did on the one we bought. So we didn't go with the cheapest b/c they didn't have much reputation, and didn't want to pay $9000, which was the most expensive.

20 bucks and buy them a pizza for lunch or beer to go. Have coke and waters for them.

Your stuff will be treated nicely.

Let me throw a wrench or two in the mix:

When they packed/loaded our stuff-
- they were supposed to give a 30 min heads up that they were heading to the house, the guy called and said he was at the gas station around the corner about to be there
- they packers/movers said they didn't know anything about the attic items(when they were on my quote) so they packed the truck incorrectly and claimed they didn't have room for the stuff. Their HQ made them get a second truck to finish the move since it was all going to storage and would be repacked.

Today's unload:
-I was given an 11-1 window of arrival. I was at the house at 10:50 and called the dispatch to see if I could get an update. The truck had just left and the window was now 2-3
-Truck shows up unannounced at 3:15, luckily my wife was at the house

Sounds like they don't need a tip. I'd still offer soda/waters just to be nice.

Cold drinks during so they don't fall out

Once the job is done, tipping is dumb. I've gotten everything I need, and I wouldn't plan on ever using them again. Seriously people, do you tip the hooker at the bunny ranch once you've used her up?

Cold Gatorades all day and lunch while they are there. I have moved more times than I care to count with movers doing it (they were contracted by the military). You can guarantee your stuff is going to be broken, so there is no need to tip them.

There are two types of heavy lift guys. The "team" that always works together and does a phenomenal job. Then you have the day workers. These guys work for the local/national moving company and the truck driver pulls into town and grabs 4 or 5 for the day and promises a flat fee for their service based on the weight of your household goods. These guys are usually not the best.

I tipped my car salesman. He got me a really great deal. Is this not a common thing?

No this is retarded. Whatever "deal" he got you made him a decent chunk of change.

I'm not going to sit there and negotiate a price down for an hour and then tip the guy after. That's retarded.

Thats at a minimum, otherwise the parts to their bed could "disappear".
