They could put a tip slip on a gas pump and I would feel obligated to add a buck.

I'm a sucker and it gets me every damn time.

I agree with you, but I downvoted anyway because this has been discussed ad nauseum

I walk in and pickup togo orders at some non FF restaurants. I always give a couple bucks. The hostess or someone else is bagging your meal

I'll tip $1-2 for take out if it is a place i order from on a regular basis. Otherwise, no I do not tip for takeout.

Food truck, generally yes, but not as much as I would at a restaurant.

I never want to, but then I realize $1-2 means more to the person working than it does to me.

This is how I feel. I remember how tough times were when I was working those crappy jobs. They need it more than I do.

I'll tip a few bucks for takeout if I know the person giving me the food put forth some effort in putting it together. I'll tip at counter service places and food trucks if I'm a regular.

Which food truck line did you go to?

Chinatown? Metro Center? L'Enfant? The Mall? Dupont?

Need to know where to avoid.

Not to sound like Mr. Pink here, but I hate tipping and I think it's stupid as a built-in method of paying employees. Tipping should be reserved for any service that goes above and beyond.

When I went to Europe, they all salivated over there at the fact that dumb Americans were there to pay them more than they were asking for for their services.

I do. Like a dollar or two. Unless its some sort of large catering order where whomever prepared it likely had to put some effort into it. In which case I'll go 10-20% depending on how attractive she is.

Maybe it's because I worked in the service industry for 5 years.

I can say in my experience, to go tips weren't expected, they were just an added bonus.
