Tipping for take-out or food trucks

Frequently, when I get take out or go to a food truck and pay with a credit or debit card, I get a screen that asks if I want to leave a tip. Granted, they almost always have "no tip" as an option, but it's fricking rude even to ask, especially given the at least implied threat your order will be delayed (or worse) if you don't. I'm happy to tip for delivery or table service, but why in the hell would anyone expect me to tip for food when I had to go to the place, wait in line to order, wait for the food to be ready, and then take with me to eat somewhere else? Literally, the only thing they are doing is cooking it for me and taking my money, which should be covered by the base price of the food. It would be like a grocery store cashier asking for a tip for ringing up my groceries. Hell, she's probably doing more than the people at a food truck or take-out joint.

Nope. Food trucks inflate prices anyway.

Nope. If I drive to pick the food up, no tip.

People that work take-out make less than minimum wage, before tips. That's just the way that restaurants work right now. I don't agree with it, but that's why you keep seeing it

A couple bucks, just like people at the drive thru window.

take out no.
i always tip food truck.
1. i dont want those dirty hippies spitting in my food
2. they usually make shite $ and get excited when someone tips a couple bucks
3. preferential treatment - get your order brought directly to you, i have even had places box leftovers when i am ready to leave

take out: F no
Food Truck: tip when you order hoping they throw a little extra in there.

I feel like a tip line had been added to dang near every receipt I get. You look like a dbag crossing it out, but a tip is reserved for someone who goes above and beyond their regular duties to make sure you enjoy yourself. Doing your job doesn't warrant a tip.

People who tip are suckers and sheep

I tip for take-out. Typically 3-4 bucks

If I pick up food regularly from the place, I leave $2. If not, I leave $1.

Take out, yes. They usually have to go to the back to box up your food or have to split tips with the runner who brings out the food to the front.

I never want to, but then I realize $1-2 means more to the person working than it does to me.

I give the guy at the local food truck $1.00 every order bc I'm usually ordering for 2-3 people at the office.

Waiters and bartenders do, but not people who work take-out. The cashier at the food court fast food joint I just went to isn't making that, and the guy working in the food truck isn't either.

I'm the opposite, I'll tip take-out more often than food trucks..... all depends on the service, promptness, courtesy, and how much I want to eat the girl serving's butt.
