I usually don’t tip and the carhop seems mad.
When that happens I usually invite them to meet me at another Sonic across town.

When I worked there, they paid you an extra dollar an hour.

Sonic was my first job. It was much less than a dollar difference when I was there and, like you, wasn’t worth it to me.

Made about $20 per shift in tips. I’d say ~40%? of people tipped. Back then, we took the credit card inside and they could tip on it. Today, you can’t tip on credit cards (unless something has recently changed). Many people don’t carry cash, so I’d be interested to see if the % of people who tip has decreased.

I always go through drive thru at sonic so no tip obviously.

That's step one. Step two is to park in a stall.

Here's a Sonic tip: Check a man's knuckles before your mouth writes a check your arse is going to have to cash.

$1 plus the loose change.

ETA: A couple bucks when they used to be on roller skates.

Tipping at Sonic - should I or shouldn't I?

Wonderful first post and a great post for the first day of 2019. I predict an incredible TD-OT career. Several posters have reason to get worried.

I quit going to sonic because they would make me feel guilty if I didn’t tip.

I tip a dollar plus my change.
