The ferry was empty yesterday here on Dauphin Island going to Fort Morgan-Gulf Shores.

Check out Google map before you get to the Miss-A-bama state line if the traffic on the Bayway and tunnel is backed up.

Thank me later Hoss....

Is there a way to track what time they leave each side throughout the day?

I’m going in three weeks, but I doubt taking the ferry will save anytime since we are staying in Orange Beach

Even if it takes an extra hour, it’s worth it for the experience.

Don’t they have a little bar on each side?

WTF is new...

Worst road design ever...I realize it was designed with less traffic in mind, but that shite should’ve been fixed years ago...

Tacky Jack's when you get off at Fort Morgan.
About mile on the left.

Geez, it’s been seven years since I did that last.

Thanks for the reminder.

I had an Avalanche and we used to eat Lunch in the back area of it as we crossed the Mouth of Mobile Bay.

Friend,

Every time we go to east of Destin for family outings, I beg and plead to take the Mobile Bay Ferry. We have only taken it twice and the last time, Uncle said, "Never again. What a waste of two hours."

I must say Dauphin Island was not much to see. Its natural beauty limited and only someone from Mobile would compare it to Martha's Vineyard. The ferry itself was, as Eric Gordon might say, "Pretty good." It was no Algiers Ferry nor was the captain nearly as skilled. The drive through Gulf Shores and Orange Beach was remarkably long. I do not understand why anyone would stop at one of these beaches when much nicer ones are just an hour or two east. Maybe we could do an OT field trip to this ferry and compare it to other ferries in the region.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Rather you sit on I-10 traffic on the Bayway and tunnel?

They are plenty good enough when your sister and BIL have a place for you to stay and a boat.

If enough people would think like you they would be great but alas they are about as crowded as anywhere else usually.

When I visit we hardly ever go to the beach. I never have liked being hot for hours and having sand everywhere.

Orange Beach is just fine. After my last trip to Destin three years ago I said I wasn’t going back there for a while because of the extra time it takes to get there and the damn non-stop traffic while there

Is 30-A the same as Watercolor and Seaside? Because I didn't see that as overrated at all. We had a fantastic time with my entire family (14 of us) in one house coming and going for a week. It was a blast.
