Real issue is these are trailers, not homes. They depreciate in value instead of increasing in value over time. It's a poor investment of your money if you pay a lot for it

I heard that everything like carpet and furniture wears out very quickly and the clutter becomes a big problem.

I was watching a documentary called the minimalists on Netflix. There are some really cool apartment and house designs on there that are actually livable. These tiny houses are not a long-term plan. They are hipster dreams which most likely last six months.

Why not just build a traditional home that's like 1100 sq ft? My wife and I could live in that once the kids are gone. Unfortunately those types of areas turn ghetto down here. It would have to be built on our own land.

No way the wife and I could live in one of those. We both snore, loudly, when we're in a snoring mode. Hell, when we rent a motel room we have to rent a mini-suite just so I have a couch in another room to go sleep on.

This or just get a 25 to 30 foot pull-behind camper. The idea of a tiny house is great but when you look past the novelty of it there are better options

Smaller is less expensive and easier to maintain.
Lived in a small cabin for a summer a few years ago and loved it. It was probably less than 400 sq ft.

My wife talked me into buying a 2900 sq ft home. It's a big waste of space for the most part. We will definitely downsize after my girls (both 11 now) leave. I'm good with a small place in Eastern TN or Western NC. I don't think she'd go for 400sq ft though.
