Tiny houses only work when you live in a place with a beautiful climate and they are set on an awesome piece of land so you spend most of your time outside
I view them as camps/vacation getaway homes, not places to actually live permanently (unless maybe you are just a single dude)

I'd be very happy in an 800 square feet home in a beautiful location. I'm not down with these $40K, 180 square feet trailer homes they're building on these shows.
ETA- As another poster pointed out, I think a nice climate makes small/tiny house living much more palatable because of time spent outdoors.

After having to live in a camper for 8 months post the 2016 flood, I say hell no. Small house--sure. Tiny house--never.

I spent a few nights in one. I about killed myself going down the ladder for a middle of the night piss.
I could live in one if I were single with no intention of having a woman over and if the bed was downstairs.

Right. It seemed this was the point of them. The guy that owned the climbing gym here had one he lived in. He was single, had the gym to store all of his other stuff in, and preferred to spend his money on travel rather than a big house.
Then it somehow became a fad where people who have no clue about living minimal (like an outdoorsman, camper, climber,etc) thought they could do it too.
Also, the idea is to DIY. Buying them doesn't make much financial sense.

That’s what I’ve always thought. The tiny house thing sounds like a impractical fad, but I’ve been hoping that it normalizes minimalist house construction. My wife and I would definitely live in a 1000 sq ft Single Family after launching the kids.

We've raised two sons in a house this small. One is out, living with my MIL who has a larger home and wants him to live with her. We fit in here just fine. Could never fit in a trailer with wooden siding for any amount of time.
