FML, I hate the beginning of every semester. I could be out getting drunk on this money. I needed 4 books, but the bookstore didn't have the fourth. My teacher wanted us to get another edition of this engines book that is $492 on amazon, but I got the newer version for cheaper somehow.

To this day, I think the most expensive book I've ever bought was $390. That's a lot of cheddar for a bunch of pieces of paper

Here is today's loss:

All they had was new books, and I don't rent ones that I'll possibly use again. Fricking Amazon couldn't get anything to me before the 22nd

Just bought a damn $200 book because of the online homework access key it comes with. Totally a rip off.

Don't worry, you can sell them back at the end of the semester for $60.

LSU bookstore has digital book rentals now. I rented the digital copy of a $200 book for $70 and a $140 book for $45. Saved a lot of money there, and I'm not worried about renting bc I've never gone back to look at a book after I've finished with it for the semester. However the books that didn't have digital rentals were expensive as hell

Cant wait to get this shite over with. A piece of me dies from rage everytime i have to purchase a book. Even more when I have to drop $140 for a fricking access code.

Anyone know of any textbook torrents?

I wonder if there are publishing reps that kiss professors asses like drug reps do with doctors.

One of my professors blatantly admitted that the department requires him to list a "required" textbook now, despite the fact that he used to tell his students not to buy a textbook

I don't sell back upper level books. I keep them in case I need to reference them for some reason. Used a few of my forestry books after I graduated, and will probably be looking over these engineering books before the EIT/PE

I got off cheap this semester, the kids Organic Chem book and Bio book are still good for the second parts of those courses and she got one of the other books from a friend. Only shelled out $235 this semester.

Unless the Professor wrote the textbook and is mandating it for his course at outrageous rates while no other institutions use the text, I have no problem with any price charged for access to intellectual property. It is a free market, and the market sets the price.
