One more time. Most people can fit their entire car in their driveway without blocking the sidewalk. What's different about your situation? Is your driveway really short? Is your car exceptionally long? Or is there something restricting use of your full driveway, like other cars parked there or some other obstruction.?

Woke up this morning to a huge yellow citation from the parish about my car blocking the sidewalk (which passes through my driveway). I completely understand if a handicapped person was unable to walk by or had to go into the street to pass, but there was about 5 feet of space between my back bumper and the curb. Basically what they're saying is I have to park on the street or ruin the grass on the side of my house. Anyone else ever dealt with this issue?

Never dealt with it but when I run through my neighborhood, I basically consider any car parked like that to be parked by an a-hole unless we're talking company is visiting. Why can't you pull up?

Also, there is a good chance you don't own that portion of your driveway (ie, the part that includes the sidewalk, and the space between the sidewalk and the street)
Yup

This. Tax money paid for the sidewalks. They are there for people to walk safely. What gives you the right to indiscriminately block a sidewalk? Why would you think that is appropriate?

So there is not at least 20ft of driveway between the front of your house and the sidewalk? Or is it that there is but your wife or kid parks there and you park behind them?

Only thing I can figure is he has 2 vehicles but a garage so full of shite that he can't use it for the vehicle.

Or maybe has 3 cars in the household and uses the garage for one and the other 2 park outside.

Nevertheless, I don't give a shite because I have a 160ft x 14 ft wide driveway and 3 car garage and all kind of other cool shite and just wonder why he lives on 1/4 acre.

Guess it just depends on where you live. But I see plants and trees blocking or just straight up ruin a sidewalk. Nothing ever seems to be done about that shite.

In many cities the property owner not the city is responsible for sidewalk upkeep. How is it where you are?

Sheriff usually only enforces this if someone complains. Sidewalks have to be kept clear. They are sideWalks for a reason though.

Not from what I've seen in new construction neighborhoods.

He almost certainly doesn't own the part from the sidewalk to the street.

Idk. So your telling me the public property is now a private residences problem?

Let's take Nola. The sidewalks are complete shite through out that city. Some with just huge arse roots growing through them.

That's what I'm talking about. Same in parts of baton rouge.

Absolutely. You can get sued or fined for not maintaining your sidewalk. I guess it depends on where you ;live. this guy likely lives where a HOA is strict about this.

I parked my 1st boat in front of my house for 2 days and someone from the HOA knocked on my door. We had just got a bottom job and had not put it back in the slip. They were cool about it but "some of these old people" got nothing to keep their mind occupied.

You live in a HOA which leads me to believe you have a garage. Why not park in your garage?
