Its really hard to over do it when prepping for a storm.

Every storm it seems I wasn't diligent enough in some way.

Side note: when in the situation we were Tuesday/Wednesday where there were lines 50 cars deep waiting for hours… bring gas cans, pull in a parking lot next door, walk up to someone about to pump their gas. and offer to pay for their gas and then fill your cans up, profit.

(Profit = paying a little bit to not wait 2+ hours)
The bonus is asking people that dont drive a vehicle that can hold 30 gallons. Find a poor person who has <15 gallon car who will more than gladly let you step in and do that.

I saw it yesterday and tipped my cap to the guy.

My family taught me that gas stoves > electric because they work without electricity.

You can never have too much of the following:
Ice, gasoline, cash, batteries, or flashlights.

The gas fuels your generator and evacuation.
The ice keeps your food from spoiling as quickly so you can have good cooked food for 7 days instead of 3.

When you get power restored, service the generator and run it out of gas by turning off the fuel valve. You may have to run it half choke at the end to get it all. It will save you hours in the future.

The cut the grass thing is actually wrong. They say higher grass absorbs water. Google machine told me so.

1. Remove possible debris from outside (chairs, plants, etc.).

2. Make sure you have BOTH flashlights and batteries.

3. Have water for at least 3 days per person, and have non-spoilable food for at least 3 days as well.

Same here I asked my wife to do the same and of course, she did not do it. So I got up early Saturday morning and filled up for her and took a couple of gas containers with me for the generator. Did not even get a thank you just why does my car smell like gasoline.

If I'm expecting a storm bad enough that I might need some of the shite mentioned in this thread, I'm just going to get out of Dodge and stay in a hotel.
