First and only time I went was about 6 years ago with a group of friends. We parked, smoked a j, and went in. I had ZERO idea what to expect, and being that I was high as a kite, it was almost too immersive for me. That being said, after I got back down to Earth it was a great time. Very impressive to see how it's put together and how dedicated the staff members are to keeping the role playing believable. TL;DR: Turkey legs, beer, cleavage..... what's not to like.

Do you like to have a good time?
Do you laugh at outrageous jokes?
Do you like to see chubby women with large breasts exposing most of said breasts via a corset?

It’s pretty cool. Their performers are awesome. Bring dollar bills to trip them. The only issues is there are many worthless nerds there. I mean, you gotta be a little nerdy to go but I’m talking about the pathetic nerds who stand no chance in the real world.

Yeah, there are definitely 2 totally different ways you can enjoy it.
Someone gave good advice to walk around the pond and some of the offshoots to make sure you see it all and don’t miss anything you may want to go back to. (1st time there, completely missed the jousting). And they have themes each day, so choose the best day that you think your kids would enjoy. We didn’t have the luxury of choosing, but I can’t imagine any day is “bad.”
The queen “knighted” my son one time and maybe crowned my daughter another—it’s been 7 or 8 years—and they got little certificates or something. They loved it.
Pay attention to the weather if you can. As others have said, if it rained previously, that could really suck. But the temperature matters, too. 1st time we went, it was really nice, almost chilly, but the sun was out and we were walking, so it wound up being perfect. The 2nd time we went, it wasn’t “hot,” but I sweated my arse off.*** And I’ve always really enjoyed all the rides. It’s kinda crazy how fun they make them with just ropes and pulleys and man power with no electricity. And I enjoyed the little cottage/house with all the medieval torture devices.
***As an aside, I almost brought this up in the thread about the reverse shoulder surgery. Someone advised getting a nerve block and that they can last 48+ hours. I had ulnar nerve transposition surgery the day before we went. Pretty serious and invasive surgery. I’d had 3 or 4 before (and 3 since), but it was the 1st time I’d ever had a nerve block. We went the next day. Wife and my parents told me I shouldn’t go, but I’m felt like a million dollars, so I wasn’t missing it. Just put my sling on and NBD. Wound up walking a ton, a lot while holding my 3-year-old daughter in my right arm, and riding all the rides, etc…Had a great time. Woke up the next morning, nerve block had worn off, and I immediately sat up in bed and did a GOB: “I’ve made a huge mistake.”
Enjoy

I went the last two years. Both times I waited at least 45 minutes before I was able to get to the parking area. Not sure why anybody would lie about how long it takes to park somewhere lol

In college, a friend had some girl named Drusilla ask him to go with her to the Texas Renaissance festival. She had a pretty face, but was (seemingly) otherwise what you would expect a "Drusilla" to look like.
He brought back pictures. She rocked a tight corset and had an absolutely smoking body. She just his it all the time with the long hippie dresses she would wear.

So, if you're a nerd who loves cleavage, that's the place to be.

Go the second or third weekend and see Jacque de Whipper. He is great. I also like the Shakespeare Approved dude.

Not a bad experience, not as great as Houston but you can certainly make a day of. See some cleavage, have annoying kids running around, and learn some knowledge

It was pretty fun, but I do remember one thing. Do not get too close to the people working the festival. They fricking smelled like shite. I’m talking really bad BO. It would make a guy working at Circle K flinch.
