Never get a flu shot and never had the flu

I got mine a few weeks ago. It took about 5 minutes and I didn't get sick after like everyone always complains about.

What’s your reason not to get it? I don’t have any reason not to do it, so I get one when it’s convenient. I sometimes miss a year, but eh. I’ve only had legit flu once as a teen.

no harm to me if you die from the flu
so much for the caring profession, I guess.

Given the stats provided by flu people on the deaths annually, you should know people that have died from the flu, but you don't.
CDC: 80,000 in the USA died in 2017 from the flu. That's 1600 per state on average(not regarding population).
I do not know anyone, in all my life, even a "friend of a friend", who has died from the flu. I cannot recall even seeing an article about flu deaths in my local area.
I understand and appreciate the effectiveness of vaccines, but I HIGHLY doubt the number of deaths associated with the flu.
I do believe, for whatever reason, the numbers of deaths are completely and totally fabricated.
I am intelligent enough to believe scientific evidence justifying vaccines, just as I am intelligent enough to be suspicious of exaggerated claims of deaths.

That's all i'm saying. The stats are a scare tactic, plain and simple.
I still think you should get a flu shot, especially if you work in healthcare, or with young children, or the elderly. Obviously children and the elderly should get it.
If a 20-40 year old doens't want to get a flu shot, who cares. If a 20-40 year old dies from the flu, then you just have some really shitty luck, like walking downtown and having a piano fall from a crane and kill you kind of bad luck.

These fricking threads every week by a bunch of retards. Damn.
And half of them using confirmation bias to justify not getting it.

I never used to get a flu shot, and I never used to get the flu.
The last few years I have gotten one, and I still haven't had the flu.
I do, however, feel a strange urge to watch old episodes of MTV's Singled Out.

One of the sickest patients I've ever had with the flu was a ~20 year old guy who presented from basic training to urgent care because he was a little short of breath on the morning run. He was intubated on life support by that night. He had a fever blister (which yes is technically herpes) at the time and because of the massive amount of steroids we gave him to decrease the inflammation in his lungs it suppressed his immune system and the herpes spread all over his face and into his eyes. He spent a weak intubated, two weeks total in the hospital, and a few more weeks in rehab. He's not counted in the death toll from the flu because he survived.
With eye herpes.
Get the flu shot.

Get the flu shot.
