Would you open a business in North Baton Rouge?

Oh, great. Another person that doesn't know what "racist" means.

FYI, stereotypes and even race based jokes are not racist. There are a lot of jokes and stereotypes about Livingston Parish, but there are no accusations of racism.

North Baton Rouge is a shite hole. Many of its residents are shitty. There is a lot of crime. This economic district proposal, if passed, will be an utter failure and most of the money will be stolen or wasted.

Pointing these things out is not racist.

For all the people that feel like there's inherent racism here, put your money where your mouth is. Buy a house in NBR, put your kids in public school, and invest in a business servicing the area.

Or promptly gfy

Maybe Gary Chambers will do his part by opening an office in North BR.

This. The murder rate in North Baton Rouge as a neighborhood is higher than the following cities:
Baghdad, Iraq
Kabul, Afghanistan

Seriously. When people say North Baton Rouge is "like a war zone", actual war zones are safer.

I heard they wanted the new development that is going on at bluebonnet and highland to move to NVR. I am sure a tech campus will do quite well there, especially one with glass walls

I had a gun pulled on me in NBR while I was a student at LSU. I was just driving my car. It is a fricking war zone.

What this is all about is a hospital. They want an ER in North Baton Rouge. Unfortunately, due to the fact that ER's have to treat people regardless of their ability to pay, no ER can survive there without being highly subsidized. BR General Mid City failed because the public end of the public/private partnership ran out of money. They are hoping that by creating this economic development district that they can fudge the numbers enough to convince an out of state private hospital company to try and partner with LSU or Tulane and open a new ER in North Baton Rouge.

That was never going to happen. I have worked closely with some of the entities involved. They would have rather moved it to a different city than build in NBR

I agree. Someone had to make it clear that this isn't some stupid safe space though.
