IF you are the type to keep a car well outside of warranty get the RX. You can easily be driving it for 400K and won't have much more than maintenance costs in upkeep.

Other than the look, I'm not a big fan of the Volvo's. I hear bad things.
IMO the Volvo XC90 in either inscription or r design trim is the best looking suv on the road.
That said, I went with a Q7 over the Volvo 6 months ago and am very glad I did.
The Q7 is awesome and easily the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

I was in this boat last year. I tried to convince myself to buy a Q7 but just couldn’t put that kind of money into a 4 cylinder, and didn’t want to pay the upgrade to the 6. I also liked the look of the XC-90. Wound up going with a Mercedes GLE 350. It’s been great so far. We love it.

Have you looked at a Lincoln Navigator?
We just bought a 2018 Navigator with 8k miles for 56k.
And to those recommending the Mercedes G550 I say be a real baller and get the g550 4x4 squares.

I went with the v6 Q7. No way would I have got the the 4 cyl. The v6 in the Q7 is a beast; it’s the same power train used in previous generation s4 and s5.
Lack of a v6 option is one of the main reasons I passed on the xc90.

I have an x3. Great vehicle but pretty small. I have an almost two year old and can’t imagine how tight it would be if I had two children in car seats. Otherwise, great gas mileage and is zippy

Might also consider the RDX in lieu of the MDX. Plenty of room and less price.

2016 Lexus GX can be had all day long in the $35k range with low miles with 2 years of CPO warranty.

Mrs Pimp has an MDX and it’s been flawless. Not my cup of tea but it’s been very reliable.

I test drove all the above and the Volvo was easily my favorite. Settled on a Q5 but it was a price thing. Volvo was still the best overall.

My wife drives the Navigator. Great towing and great on road trips.

The finest of all- get a totally blacked out Yukon Denali.

Volvo is more luxurious than Acura and Infiniti but a step below the German manufactures

X3 is small
Q7 is long with a low roof
XC60 is a perfect car; dunno if they have the electrical gremlins worked out yet
RX feels really tight and has a lot of plastic
Never been in the Infiniti or Acura
Eta: XC60 was the clear winner, but we ended up getting a really good deal on a pristine 08 GX470

Toyota Land Cruiser or the Lexus version. You will thank me. 200k miles easily and will still have resale value.

If he is willing to spend $90k+ then these make a lot of sense but I am not sure the OP is there based on his given choices. 200k for those are almost broken in.
