Going to my second Friday wedding this month. Both of the weddings have been at the same place that is an hour away from where most people live (including bride/groom and their families). Yet they start the wedding at 6 o'clock. Seems like if you're going to have your wedding on a Friday you'd at least start it a little later to allow people time to get there after work.

What are the OT thoughts on Friday weddings? Trashy?

ETA: Both are Methodist weddings. Both in Alabama.

Friday evening weddings are the only ones I've ever been to.

Not a fan. But that won't stop me from celebrating with the couple.

This is my thought on it. I took off work early to go to the first wedding since it was a closer friend. This is a family friend so I'm not going to ask off early.. Just try my best to sneak out a little early and go straight there to be there by 6.

Trashy....Everything's trashy!

Seems like most weddings are usually in the hometown of one member of the couple, usually the girl, right? Or is this one of those, "I gotta have my wedding at some high priced place"?

I'd send them a notice like, "Since I have to work like most people, I'll be a few minutes late to your wedding, but don't wait, just go ahead and get started and I'll sneak in the back."

Let the bitch worry about you causing a disruption.

Nothing wrong with Friday weddings. In places like Nola that is your only option sometimes unless you have booked a church/venue a year in advance. Can't cut out of work an hour or two early?

This is pretty common practice. The first one made more sense since the wedding venue was halfway between the grooms hometown and the brides hometown. The one today doesn't make sense as both the bride and groom are from the same hometown, currently both live in that hometown, and the venue is an hour away from said town.

This seems to be the norm these days and is usually decided by the church. Deal with it.

Venue isn't a church.

Actually many parishes don't do Saturday night weddings in Louisiana.

Nola is one of the only that comes to mind.

Imagine all that, but the wedding being dry.

That was me one time last fall.

Local wedding, hugging up on work hours in metro Atlanta which is miserable rush hour traffic.

Dry.

Did I say dry?

fricking dry.
