10 years ago Toyota Corolla LE MSRP was $18,180. 2023 Toyota Corolla LE MSRP is $21,550. 15% increase in MSRP for a vehicle with way more standard features and better mpg doesn’t seem out of reason.

1997 Toyota Camry.
Bought it in 2020 for $2500 with 116k on it to keep from putting a lot of miles on my Silverado.
Can't really justify getting rid of it as it's so reliable and cheap.

Been driving a 2012 Elantra since 2011. Still getting 36 mpg.
2013 Elantra here. Best vehicle Ive ever owned. Gas, oil, tires, brakes and one tail light are only expenses Ive ever had.

2015 Ford Fusion SE 2.0L Eco Boost. Gets ~28 MPG highway. 172k miles and no serious issues to this point, thankfully.

Buy a used Scion XB. I'm on my second one. Someone totalled my first one while it was parked.
If there is a more practical and reliable car I don't know what is. I'm a big guy and I have plenty of room. It's like driving a little sports car. It handles really well and is kind of peppy.
