I think he did, and the hospital staff failed to connect the dots of symptoms to west Africa.
That's why I don't blame him.
I'm pretty sure he didn't tell them that he was in close contact with someone who had died of ebola.

That was my point. Did he tell him he just wasn't feeling well or did he tell him where he came from? You would think that if was truly scared about it being Ebola, he would have told them where he came from.

I do feel like he told someone he just got back from Africa and who knows how in depth he went with the nurse with it. You know that hospital is in CYA mode so I don't really know what to believe.

yeah exactly
if he had said, "i was in liberia a week ago around people suffering from ebola, and i came in direct contact with the disease", they would have treated him accordingly the first time. he also had to lie when traveling about his contact with the disease (Which is the evil part)

Right. He just told them he traveled to Africa, not that he carried an ebola symptomatic pregnant woman in fricking Monrovia as she was profusely bleeding from the mouth and died the next day.
He is a total POS. Glad he is gone.

I'd say he's evil if he wanted to spread the virus. Otherwise, he was just a scared man who didn't want to die because of substandard medical care.
This.

Seriously? It's now his fault?
It's flabbergasts me how you can over look the sheer incompetencies and failures on the part of the hospital and the CDC. We had a chance to contain it, but fumbled.
Blame the sick patient. Insane!

You should be pissed that we can't control this disease with the measures we established.
You should be pissed that we have only 3 centers in the US that can properly treat Ebola...that's 3 more than the "clusterfrick" of Africa.
Yet we have the resources and the intellect to have the best healthcare system in the world.
Your anger is in the wrong place dude.

he lied to come to america knowing he was exposed to an infectious disease that is highly dangerous. yeah. that's on him

he is the person who lied which created the entire crisis. had he not lied, he would have never made it here, and there would be no crisis

Just letting you know that you responded to yourself.

Have you ever had your life on the line? How you act before death is hard to describe if you aren't there. I'm not justifying his actions but to say he is pure evil is a stretch IMO.
A person who is drowning will attempt to drown others unknowingly to save their own life. Thomas naively thought he could get to America safe and under the care of a physician. What I don't understand is why he went home after his first doctor visit?

prior to TED, we faced 0 cases in the US (other than treating aid workers who contracted the virus abroad)
he is the sole reason we now have ebola being spread in the US. it starts with him and his lies

He shouldn't have to. Health professionals know protocol on how to deal with travelers from third world countries.
Sad to say, but Presbyterian dropped the ball on the most basic of assessment.

Agreed. Being scared and not telling the doctors everything they need to know doesn't make you evil. Guy was probably in denial of being diagnosed with ebola.. people lie about shite to doctors all the time. Stupid, reckless, and inconsiderate of him, yes, but calling him evil is a huge stretch.
Of course every article you read about him makes him sound like a completely innocent guy who the medical industry community was trying to kill. You can't get moderate information anywhere.
