Someone in the loop is getting a kickback or huge contract. Whether or not it is needed is not an issue.

Honestly, I like the gondola system idea more than the tram idea.

Believe it or not, I also like the gondola.

To me, if it works, I don't care what form it takes. A gondola is not a weird idea for me. Same as a tram.

If it's safe, relieves traffic, and helps people get where they need to go, then great.

To be honest, I don't think this is that bad of an idea. They could spend it on many other things that would be more of a waste. LSU students could live downtown and have easy transportation to campus. People who work downtown & go to LSU could go to work, park and instead of having to fight finding parking around campus then back down town, they can just use the tram.

It would be helpful on game days. I think it would be helpful if they eventually expand it all the way to Siegen Ln and somehow make it parallel to Perkins.

I'd like to see it. Though it wouldn't be very effective. 90% of the traffic problems are from the LP and AP trash that commute through downtown on their way to the plants in North BR.

They'd never use a tram, because then the other baws would never see their Platinum Edition Ford Super Duty in the parking lot.

This, we have a pretty bad history of public transit here.... why set up for more corruption?

Wasn't 10MM just gone from CATS a few years ago?

A city loop, or an exit off of pecue or bluff sounds better to me than a tram that will be a shite show in 5 years tops...

You think this city can have nice things???

All depends on who rides the tram.

If it's students and working people and decent folks using it, then it may be worth it.
If it's overtaken by thugs and ne'er-do-wells it will quickly be in disrepair and no decent folks will use it.

I know a lot of people at LSU that are excited for this. It would enable student housing to move further away from campus towards downtown. It would both ease the traffic load around campus and provide a safe alternative to driving fricked up.

of course they say it's hoped to be up and running by 2021... so by BR standards we will be lucky if it is finished in time for our home game against Texas in 2024

Bike lanes would be a better investment

How many months out the year could someone comfortably commute from downtown to LSU or vice versa via bike? 3 or 4 tops?

I don't know the numbers, but I know CATS receives or have received a lot more money than their worth. Has anyone ever seen a CATS bus, not around LSU's campus, that was at least half full?

It might be used by a lot more people than I think, but I do not recall one time seeing more than a handful of people on a bus at one time. Public transportation is needed, but it has to benefit a lot more people than it currently does in order to make it worth dishing out $10 million.

That has to be made up. While jorts suck, I don't think its a reason to ban people from public transportation.
