So why is there a school that still has Indians as a mascot?

Would it be okay if it was Mahatma Ghandi High School?

Reminds me of a sign in high school at our jamboree. I went to Salmen and we played Slidell. Slidell put up a sign that said "Black is what you are, Gold is what you steal" (our colors). Our whole school thought it was hilarious.

Damn good history teachers at that school.
Unfortunately the administration will now go all thought police to appease pc'ers.

at least they've been going to history class, people need to lighten up, a local(affluent,) hs had a banner for a game against an(ethnic diverse,) hs a couple of weeks ago saying they were going to "Build A Wall" around the end zone to keep the other team out, caught hell for it, of course

"I really think that white people are from another planet because when we came to America, it was so nice. It was just Indians. And they weren’t even Indians. We called them that by accident. And we still call them that. We knew in a month that it wasn’t Indians but we just don’t give a shite. We never correct it. We came here. They’re like, “Hi.” And we’re like, “Hey, you’re Indians, right?” And they’re like, “No.” “No, this is India, right?” “No, it’s not. It’s a totally other place.” “You’re not Indians?” “No.” “Ahh, you’re Indians.” “You’re Indians for hundreds of years after.” - Louis C.K.

White people don't care who they offend but if it was reversed they'd be up in arms.

I thought that Louis CK guy was supposed to be smart? Columbus was looking for the Indies, now known as the East Indies (Well, that's how he sold the trip, at least), not India.

This Area

Subsequently, the area he landed in and explored became know as the West Indies to Europeans.

End of the history of the Indies.

Also, while the sign may elicit a chuckle, it is wholly inappropriate. 20,000 men, women, and children were forced, at gunpoint, to march from east of the Mississippi to Oklahoma. Along the way, as many as 6000 died of illness, expose, and starvation.

The cheerleaders at the school subsequently apologized, blaming the sign on ignorance, not hate. As a side not, the Indians won the game 43-40. Proving that not only was there no defense for the sign, there was no defense in the game.

Was that last sentence insensitive?

Actually you could call me a white trash piece of shite honky and I'd probably buy you a beer. It's called having thick skin and not giving a frick. You pussy liberals will never understand that though.

I WILL say it's the wrong sign to make though, lol.

you don't need to be a SJW to find this distasteful. ToT may be the worst atrocity the US government ever inflicted upon a people.

Plenty of Jewish High Schools across this country.

Can you imagine "The Holocaust" or "Wipe Out" part 2 banners by athletic opponents?
