Maybe if the problem wasn't horribly written in an intentionally ambiguous way, then there wouldn't be any confusion.
Or perhaps they are just trying to teach the order of operations.

My calculator says the answer is 3. Everyone saying 9 is a moran

PEMDAS must have stopped being taught at some point.

Is this the one where the pic spells geniuses incorrectly also?

Put some parenthesis in there and make it clearer is all I'm saying.

That's what I thought but everyone elses answer was 3 so I didn't say anything.

PEMDAS
It stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, and Addition and Subtraction. In that order.

There is nothing ambiguous about the way this problem is written. You can make that case for the 288/2 problem, but not this one.

Clearly. Just read this thread for proof.

Answer is 9 right? please tell me I am right.

Yeah, I can argue ambiguous equations when it comes to doing division or multiplication first (I've never followed the left to right rule), but this one is pretty simple. Then I read posts from people who are so confident that I second guess myself. I got 9.
3+3-3x0+3
3+3-(3x0)+3 or 3+3+(-3x0)+3
3+3-0+3 or 3+3+0+3
3+3+3=9
3+3-3x0+3
3+3-(3x0)+3 or 3+3+(-3x0)+3
3+3-0+3 or 3+3+0+3
3+3+3=9

Since when did 5th grade math become something people look up to?
When you went into 6th grade and got to use the calculator. People have been taught to read from right to left a lot more than the order of operations

I'm not a genius so I can't really give an honest answer.

Correct to a point, but remember that multiplication and division are considered equal with each other as are addition and subtraction. So in those cases, after parentheses and exponents, go from left to right.
