The only awards show I’ve regretted missing in the last decade was when Ricky Gervais took a flamethrower to the entire group.

First, this isn't news. It's wrong all over the place.
Second, the actual news isn't news because the news this is butchering is almost a year old.
Race and equity will soon be one of 4 criteria used to determine eligibility for specifically the best picture award. Not all or any academy awards, just one. This one criteria is an option. Another option is paying your set PAs and interns. So you could say studios can either hire diverse craftspeople to create their movies, or they could just pay their interns. Or do one of two other things to qualify for eligibility.
If you think the Oscars haven't had both arcane rules and seemingly arbitrary rule changes for their award categories throughout their 94 year history, then you're a fair-weather fear monger. Good job finding a Los Angeles-based retard rag.

I've never cared about them.
The only reason this would concern or bother me is the woke influence on what movies get made. I already watch less and less new movies on demand because of this nonsense.
