We invented a holiday that is so weak that most New Orleaneans go skiing during but you need to make sure that it's an embarrassment in its place of invention? Well that's not true. Mobile did have the first Mardi Gras celebration in America though. As a Mobile resident that has experienced Mardi Gras plenty of times in both Mobile and New Orleans, I have no problem at all saying that Mobile's Mardi Gras doesn't hold a candle to New Orleans.

nah, really just what I said, I did have the misfortune of being forced to spend a few weeks in Mobile this time last year, and over Mardi Gras, was surprised at how lame and tame it was, seriously, was expecting a major throw down but it was more like a church picnic, everything was over pretty early, like before 10pm

I'm leaving New Orleans to go to a ball there tomorrow. Parades are on par with smaller NO parades, or Metairie parades, and the balls are well put together. They actually work with most of the same people that the parades here do

the small towns are where Mardi Gras is at anymore, a certain subset of the community has pretty much driven everyone out of New Orleans over the last couple of decades
