That's just pathetic, but it's what has become of that area of Bourbon every freaking weekend.

I had several friends who went to the quarter over the weekend during the afternoon and said it was the most crowded and fun they've experienced since before covid. Restaurants and bars were popping.

And then we have to deal with this garbage once the sun goes down.

Same here. The only thing garbage like that understands is POLICE. Open up a sub-station right there on Bourbon with a bunch of 3'x3' vertical cages like mini-jails (no chair, no cot). They'll scatter like roaches and will never come back to Bourbon street.

They have lost control to that area to a certain demographic. If Covid did not do the businesses in I suspect this will. It’s out of control.

Actually the FQ was largely controlled by the mob up through the 1970s. You didn't have all this crime back then. If you went to a night club you would see these ominous looking guys with dark sunglasses keeping watch on things.

Yep that went away when the two organizations downsized in 80s

Even into the 90's the police wouldn't put up with much stupidity on Bourbon.
Now I guess they are told to don't dare do anything about it.

This was true. I grew up just outside of the quarter. We jokingly referred to it as the Italian quarter.

I've been saying they need to do what San Diego did to create the Gaslamp Quarter

Wasn't the state in the process of trying to do that...?

What ever happened to that?

New Orleans business owners concerned about the image it portrays to visitors.

If they actually cared they’d be spending every single red cent they can afford backing a better mayoral candidate.

IDK, but I do know that Billy Nungessor and one of the founders of Walk On's and a few other buisness leaders went to Latoya not too long ago to pitch the idea of converting the FQ into a Gaslamp Quarter like San Diego...with it's own services separate from the city services and she Destroyed their idea told them the Quarter belonged to her and no one was taking it over and ended the meeting.

Destroya is all about what George Clinton, Boosie Williams, parliament and hiz honah Ray Nagin called “chocolate city” . They want a black run city.
They believe that they built it and they want to run it.

If you’re white and living in nola , you’re paying your tax money to a bottomless pit of inefficiency that essentially resents you. They’ll take your money but they don’t like you. They don’t want you to jump ship though because they know it’ll take away the tax base. So they appease you.

They have parties behind your back with only black people. They hire black first and pay extraordinarily high with your tax money.

Thing is, the amount they get from the citizens isn’t enough to cover the costs so they beg the feds for bailout money. They wait for catastrophes or create them so they can get more bailout money.

The front is all fun and games in nola but the underbelly is an ugly place.

Idiocracy isn’t just a movie. It’s reality. This is what happens when society takes a nose dive into the sewer and expects everyone to just accept smelling like a sewer as a part of living life in 2021. It’s not this way everywhere though, and that explains the egress, which makes things wax worse as good people leave and the bad will never leave. They just take over, and so while it’s great that they never leave to ruin other places, it does leave you with only one choice, and that’s to pack it up and get the hell out of there before your property goes to hot garbage with the garbage people driving it into the gutter.

I mean, we don’t want the police to actually police anymore, and so guess what... The refuse of society will be the new ruling class and what you’re left with will be a reflection of who they are as human beings.

That sounds about right...

The last time I was in the quarter back in February, the quarter looked like shite. There was trash everywhere and bums sleeping on the sidewalks...

Being that NOPA hasn't had a republican mayor since 1872.
150 years.. I doubt that it will ever change.
