Sucks. Place is a warzone. Many thousands of afghans have died over the last 20 years. And many will continue to die. A "war on terror" is impossible to fight. Personally, I'm all for CIA hits. It is the only way to fight guerilla warfare and not have 100s of thousands of civilians die.

I kind of don’t believe anything I read from our press, especially when the story is from the Middle East.

You seriously believe that? And now you don't want people to "regurgitate the media's bs"?

Considering the Biden Administration has done nothing but lied about everything regarding our exit from Aghanistan, I believe the media over them. When you account for this particular story being the New York Times, that says more than some of the outlets crimsondumbass and his ilk love to shite on.

ETA: Downvoting this post doesn't change the reality of what happened. The Administration lied. Every single one of them told a different lie. They doubled and tripled down on every single one of those lies despite being proven liars. That was after they hid the old man away for 3 days and didn't even allow him to talk to other world leaders.

Go ahead, though, believe the fiction you want to believe. It is your truth.

false. stop lying. there’s a difference between a plan and execration. stop parroting the administration’s talking points. this was a massive failure.

At least we got the F out. That's all I'll give him. Piss poor execution. Definitely could have been better executed but shite man it's been time to go. Shout-out to Trump finally making it happen. Collapse was inevitable. Friendly fire has been going on for 20 years there. I've moved on from it. Fack these war machine presidents.

Of course we had to get out, but you’re being disingenuous about the failed execution of doing so. And i can’t understand or accept that.

21 active duty soldiers were slaughtered.
100’s of Afghanistan civilians have died in the weeks after
we still have 100+ civilians stranded and hundreds of Afghan green card holders who helped us with no hope of getting out.
He fricked our allies in the process.
We handed over billions in military equipment.
We gave up any presence we had in that entire area.

It’s the greatest foreign policy failure in this country’s history. And he had the gal to brag about how successful it was on national television last week. Then was spotted checking his watch as our dead soldiers landed home.

and you are applauding him. gross.

The greatest foreign policy failure was across multiple administrations trying to build a nation in the form of a democratic republic when is nothing but full of tribes of cavemen that supply 90 percent of the world's opium. It's like trying to unite G13, bloods, crips and 30 other rival gangs and putting the NOLA mayor as their leader all the while bribing local leaders that blow up the bridge you built for them so they can get more money and build another.

Ya, for getting out - not for the execution.

I wouldn't have to if ANY OTHER PRESIDENT had actually gotten us out. Both prior presidents said that they would - why were we still there?

Every administration which oversaw that war has done the same thing unfortunately.

Well yeah, I think almost every President is hell bound. Can’t wait until Kissinger kicks the bucket any day now, since that mother fricker was the worst. I hope Christopher Hitchens left an obituary behind for him with just the date and means of death left blank to fill in later.

Afghanistan has been a massive disaster for well over a decade and we had to get out. I assume you agree with most of the country in that sentiment.

Yes, the pullout was done terribly - but no other president stood up to the MI complex as well as the media and actually got us out. I absolutely wish that Trump had gotten us out and done it in a more organized manner but he didn't do that.

So I'm left having to be both extremely happy that Biden got us out and upset that we did it in such a terrible manner. In the long run, getting out is still a positive even though it was done poorly.

Agreed with all of this. It’s as if I demanded an end to slavery, the government says will do, and then murders all the slaves. I mean, that’s one way to get rid of it, but the worst and most horrific way.

Our military translates into politicians in a room making this decision. Don’t blame the troops, this was politics.

This has been a pretty regular occurrence in the War on Terror. For a while it seemed that the US was targeting weddings. Just another example of our dumbass policy.
