The only way I see this working is the guy would have to have a very specific attitude. Either he waits on them hand and foot and hopes the wheels don't come off, or he takes the stoic route and behaves as though it's nothing out of the ordinary and doggedly avoids the inevitable attempts at team splitting.
Would be a tough line to walk, but hell, I'm not mad at him for giving it a go
