The best ones are the cars driving down the interstate with "buy the bride a shot. Venmo @....." written on the back window

This is the perfect example of what I believe OP was referring.

I don’t know you from Adam’s house cat, yet you would like for me to send you money because you got married, or just had a baby.

I’ve got more beef with the people who get on Facebook neighborhood pages or NextDoor to beg for stuff around the holidays. The “we just might not have Christmas this year without help”.

Then when multiple folks offer legitimate services, charities, etc. it’s always an excuse. “We really just need the money”.

NEVER donate to those people. If they’re truly in need they’ll take assistance.

Cash app and gofundme are two very different things.

Totally agree. However, I do think the intent from the OP was:
1. Gofundme - everything that happens to someone, they have a gofundme to try and get others to foot the bill

2. Cashapp - seems lots of folks are now saying "it's my birthday. My cashapp is XXXXXX.

So, the two, while much different, can be used in similar ways.

We didn’t do the money dance at our wedding because we felt it was trashy. And it really is.
It didn’t stop the giving of cards in envelopes with cash gifts though.

I'm not citing specific examples. You all have seen it yourselves in your every day life. I may be poor, broke and destitute but I would never put this nonsense up. Much less expect anybody to donate. Where has common decency gone? This generation has no class.

Step 1 Rent a girl type SUV like a 4Runner for your hunting trip

Step 2 make a girls type Venmo (blondie324) and paint in on back glass with “birthday weekend buy me a drink”

Step 3 drive across the country on your hunting trip while hardlegs send you money, get reimbursed for hunting expenses

Step 4 repeat

I don’t mind giving money to couples getting married these days as most are getting married older and already have homes together. And if they’re not, they almost certainly need the cash more than a Tupperware set.

I’ll happily throw some cash at one of those wedding site GoFundMes for their honeymoon trip instead of having to find a gift.

Too much damn pride to do Gofundme, friends and family know better to even consider setting up for us.

SO is a banker and complains about the Cashapp frauds weekly.

The amount of money I’ve collected over the years on various trips is well into the thousands.

It’s insane to not capitalize on it.

My confession to the OT.

I did consider standing at the I-55 exit ramp to St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson (A popular Jackson beggar location) saying, "I had no idea how expensive a Viking Cruise was. Donations Appreciated" I have a crumpled cardboard piece and a Majic Marker that I could use and some older clothes.

Do you guys think this might work? I try to leave Tuesdays open for project work, so I have the time, and honestly, Viking River cruises across Germany into Switzerland are getting pricy these days.

The lady that normally works that location just sits on the ground, propped against the light pole with her sign in her lap and I think I might do better then her if I worked at it. I see a guy who waves at everyone, and I might try his begging method.
