Well it just so happens that the 5% that knew with 100& certainty how this would go all post on The OT Lounge. If only people would have listened to them!

I still dont understand the self praise of those who saw little potential threat months ago.
The data out of China could not be trusted. The models our leaders were looking at were wrong. Testing in our country was inadequate. You had a hunch and it looks looks like you will be proven more right than wrong but it wasnt based on anything more than your opinion. Or was there some inside knowledge that you had that the president wasnt privy to?

Put yourself in the position of having to make those decisions. You have your top “expert” telling you that there could be 2million deaths. You are working in a situation with no precedent. I’m absolutely going to gather information from those experts that I trust and act on their advice. Is that not what’s happened?

Things are starting to open up. When the dreaded "spike" doesn't occur the statists will just shrug their shoulders.

I've been seeing alot of this from the AA community. "the economy can come back, dead people can't"

I am going have to wager it has something to do with all of these gubment checks being distributed.

Not to mention, a shite ton of authoritative voices weren't saying 2 million

It's not like that was the only number floated by subject matter experts

If I could dictate the public's response, it would be - "we probably saved tens of thousands of lives, a great thing but that came at great cost and with lots of mistakes, we'll have plenty of time to debate whether that was a good decision, but let's make sure we're better prepared to not have to make that decision next time."

The failure of the so called experts has been breathtaking. All the doomsday projections that were off by several orders of magnitude. We should all remember this when more "experts" come forward with models saying that we must destroy our economy to prevent climate change.

As an American I am disheartened that only Sweden seems to have had a clear headed, well thought through approach to this. It is becoming clearer by the day that they made the right decision. They are enduring some short term pain, but it may pay off for them.

Kemp opening GA was a blatantly political move that is widely celebrated.

There is no getting around letting politics influence decision-making. Look at Trump.

Corporations weren't closing offices solely because they wanted to ensure safety of employees. They didn't want PR hits or lawsuits. Doesn't make those decisions wrong or invalid.

I understand that. I think that he would’ve been publicly destroyed (much more so than normal) if he’d ignored Fauci.

I know you do, I'm just responding to the cherrypicking of projections.

No, it was a common sense move based on what we now know about this virus and the lack of overwhelmed medical infrastructure

You mean models produced with extremely little data weren't accurate?

No, they weren't. Not even in the same universe. Here's a radical proposal: If you don't have solid data or knowledge, don't put out a model.

Sure they have done better lately. It gets a lot easier to predict the outcome of the game with a minute left doesn't it?

This is what this debate produces

Non-Georgians assuring me that Georgia's governor didn't let politics play a role in making sure Georgia got the attention for being the first state to reopen
