This is the “lifestyle” that the Rant/recruiting board loves to threaten to take away from players Who don’t pick LSU

That just sounds like a miserable profession if you don't have to do it. Why not do commercial real estate? It's still sales and infinitely more interesting

People need insurance. I’m sure if he surrounds himself with good people and approaches it the right way it’s all good.

There are plenty of brutal commercial real estate jobs.

Btw, good to know you sell real estate.

You can make a killing in commercial insurance and you don’t have to do shite. You show up and sell the business owner fan a policy and you play a few rounds of golf and drink a few beers with them each year and they renew their policy.

They client gets to tell their pals they play golf with the natty winning quarterback and he gets to collect tens of thousands of dollars a year for doing it.

If you don't make it to that 2nd contract in the NFL where you get paid the phat signing bonus and guaranteed money, basically you are going to be back to work. Unless you were in that prime NFL time when guys like Jamarcuss russell were getting huge guaranteed money as a rookie.

But even the low tier guys you never heard of but sign that 2nd contract make good money.

Tons of well known college athletes are in Sales and insurance. This is absolutely nothing new, been that way for 20+ years.

99% of athletes that don't go pro go into sales of some sort.

lot longer than that

ETA: a recent as the 60s, however, almost all NFL players would have off season jobs, out of necessity

League minimum is almost half a mil a year. If I had banked that much cash in that short amount of time I'm not selling P&C in fricking Mobile

You're also not a former starting Alabama QB working in Mobile. The guy will pull in six figures easily based on that alone.

This guy isn’t the worst, but literally anyone can sell insurance.

It sells itself, really.

Most medical device reps are former division one athletes who make $375,000 a year

There's a lot of insurance salesmen so you still have to hustle but for a former college player with name recognition it probably wouldn't be very hard to do well in insurance sales.
