Best decision I made in my life was leaving Louisiana just before turning 30. Career opportunities, dating pool for late 20's in to 30's, new hobbies, better health, and an overall much better quality of life ensued

Do it.

JBE and Biden have doomed the economy.

I know a woman that moved to Boulder and she absolutely hated it. Said most of the people were strange and rude.

Boulder has some oddballs like anywhere else, but at the end of the day you are surrounded by some amazing people and world class outdoor opportunities. I don't make these lists or fact check them but it has been listed as the healthiest, most educated, and most happy place to live in America. Having said that I just sold my place and plan to leave, but it damn sure won't be back to Louisiana

You just made my point.

It's EVERYWHERE in LA.

And I've been off the main roads plenty.

No comparison.

Eta... I've been home shopping for investment/retirement purposes. You won't catch me thinking anything of the sort in LA.

Florida is really cool! There is a lot of disfunction in the central parts that are landlocked and not near the water but there is a lot of culture (Cuban, Jamaican, Puerto Rican) there and things are very nice. Many of the richest people in the USA live there and its not uncommon to just be out and about in the main cities and see Ferrari's and whatnot; something that is fairly rare in Baton Rouge.

It looks cool as hell. I was shocked she said that. I think her girls (teens) loved it. She mainly missed friends and family as well as food according to her.

Louisiana is one of the few states that often loses population in census updates. Many reasons why especially when right over their border you can go in and get almost double the pay for the same job. There's lots to love about Louisiana but it's a huge list of everything not to do. If you want to see a good example of everything not to do Louisiana is the place to be. Once the shining jewel of the country now it's in shambles like New Orleans. People keep letting horrible leaders make it worse too. I would uproot and move out of Louisiana if I was you.

I thought about moving out recently due to my family but I moved to the Northshore which is probably the only place in LA I'd live right now. It's not too bad there but even now I'm starting to second guess. We want to sell and get another house but the market is about to pop and collapse so we may just hold out here a little longer. I'm thinking if we do sell and move this time it will be out of the state because even some areas in the Northshore are getting bad.

I would definitely move there. I've been several times and it's on my short list of places I wouldn't mind moving to. I also really like Austin in Texas. I have nothing but positive vibes each time I visit Austin. It's a pretty fast growing city which is good economically but it makes you wonder where it will be 30 years from now.

Austin will essentially be California by then, as will my beloved Colorado. I am trying to get out ahead of it and move before the Calirado expansion gets worse

I don't spend as much time in Lake Charles as I'd like. It's gone through hell and back over the last year so I'm not going to criticize how it looks or feels right now. In my opinion, it's going to recover from the storms quickly. It's one of the few smaller towns in the deep south where the middle class job market is not only growing, but booming.

that is true but man the lack of federal funding for disaster relief is slowing things down big time, recovery wise. i get depressed driving around.

and yea south Lafayette to youngsville to broussard and all the area really south of I-10 is pretty great.

After college I moved to Dallas for a few years and liked it, then moved to ATL and spent way too many years there and would never move back. Been to Tampa multiple times and enjoyed it. We moved to Santa Fe 6 months ago and really enjoy it. 7k+ altitude, low humidity, lot of outdoor activities, food is excellent, not crowded like CO has become, etc. 74 degrees and sub-10% humidity today, it's nice going outside and not immediately start sweating like LA. Plenty of better places to live than Lake Chuck that don't have oppressive heat/humidity and hurricanes. Surely you would enjoy Tampa better than LC although you couldn't pay me to live in the SE US again.

what is up with so many of yall hating the heat? Seems to be a reoccuring theme on the OT. Maybe i shouldnt be shocked because another reoccuring theme is not believing in BMI.

i would ratehr the het and humidity anyday over snow.

If you can get a job there that affords a decent place to live out there, move and embrace it. You’ll probably never want to come back.
