A friend had one or was it two..Anyway on a regular basis there would be a dead cat left at the back door..

I’ve owned Whippets and both are very docile breeds with affectionate personalities. Normal walking and exercise is important as they are not high strung like a Jack Russell. They love to lounge in the bed near your feet. Greyhounds, whippets, and Italian Greyhounds are all great family dogs. Countless people will mention “your dog looks like it has anorexia, do you feed it ? “

My cousin does this and it is a great idea. Those dogs are going to die if you don't.

My brother has one. Very calm inside dog. Very sweet but not much personality. Get it outside running and it is pretty funny to see. Good on you, OP.

I would love to have one. Would fit well with my off track horses

My vet keeps finding dogs for me, though

Good idea. Just be careful with them if you take them to dog parks. They're pretty thin skinned and can get knicked up pretty easily playing with other dogs

Live in south Florida and we have a friend who adopted a retired greyhound. It was a fantastic pet. Chill and good with the kids. Good for you doing that and best of luck.

It’s a great idea.

A family in my neighborhood adopted 2 of them. They were great. So chill and great with kids.

It set off a Grey epidemic on our streets and about 6 other homes adopted one.

Every single one absolutely loves them. They are great.

I dated a girl who's mother raised Whippets as show dogs. They are great dogs and I loved watching the little ones learn to run and play.
Overall, they are good dogs.
I know a lady who raises Italian Greyhounds now, and I'm considering getting one for our next dog.

My parents adopted one (they were in their 60’s). Very chill inside dog. Isn’t like a “normal” dog - thought it had to eat an entire bowl of food as fast as possible to avoid having it taken away - couldn’t go up and down stairs.

Wasn’t familiar with fetching, either. Had her over at my house in the backyard with my dog - a shepherd - throwing a ball. Sat there and watched my dog chase down the ball about 4 or 5 times before taking off after it. Never saw anything that fast! Thought she was going to crash into the fence. Made my dog quit that day.

Get one that is mostly aluminum, you can part it out and buy a pretty nice boat.

Neighbor down the street has had a few. All were great pets. If I was considering another dog, it would be high on my list.

Think oversized cat without it being as messy or noisy, and much more friendly.

Also good on you getting one they are great pups.

I had to read this title twice as first. When I first read it, I thought you meant you wanted a bus for a pet.

Is that true with all of them ? We have stairs in our current house, but are downsizing to a one level house hopefully by summer.

My dad was involved in AKC dog shows as we raised Weimaraners, 13” beagles, and whippets. I even showed dogs in the kids division. Our most prized Whippet won best of breed, best of group, and finished in 4th place overall at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show at Madison Square Garden.

That’s awesome. Greyhounds are great dogs/pets. They’re super chill, great with other dogs, and great with kids too.

I saw your thread title and immediately thought about Florida outlawing racing. So great that’s the route you’re going.
