I directly responded to it. What content are you talking about that you think you cant get legally without cable? I'll respond.

The thing I miss most about getting rid of cable is not having a DVR.

Very true. I feel so primitive having to time my bathroom breaks during ball games.

I totally get the 8 tv thing. We had 7 not too long ago. I just got wireless genies from Directv and ditched a few tvs. Down to 5 now.

No you didn't. I quoted you saying make sure you have an HBOgo password (which is code for stealing content by using someone that is paying's credentials), and illegal methods of getting shows.

ETA: Just call it what it is. Cutting the cord is much easier and cheaper if you steal content.

Watch ESPN You have to have a cable subscription.

Very good point. That could be a deal breaker there. For some reason I was thinking Watch ESPN was tied to your Internet provider, but you're right it's tied to your cable provider.

If you have 8 tvs, you might have a bit of a problem cutting the cord.

You can get 4 chromecasts ($35) for your seldom used tvs, 2 RokuHDs ($50) and 2 Roku3s ($90) for your living and master bedroom for under $450.

Cutting the cord only makes sense if you are desperate to do one of two things, save money immediately or reduce your TV watching. I cut the cord for the second. Mission accomplished. With the exception of football season, my family watches no more than an hour of TV each day.

My point was from a psychological more than practical perspective. If you have 5 tvs that are regularly in use I'm guessing there is a lot of mindless channel surfing going on. You won't be able to do that as easily without cable.

Amazon instant video has a ton of HBO content on it and continues to get more.

well for one, is there a reason you have to have all these TVs? If you constantly have guests or something and they need cable in there rooms, then there is really no way around it.

I quoted your words genius. You suggested to steal HBO content.

It is in fact very true. Which is why several people suggested "having" log ins for several premium content apps.

There's no doubt I do a lot of mindless channel surfing. I'm definitely one of those guys who are more interested in what else is on.

Just do it.

Roku and AppleTV with my two TVs. One gets the weather channel just plugged into the wall and some channel that Law and Order is always on.

Main TV has the AppleTV and an HD Antenna. Watch all my shows the day after via Hulu Plus and movies are on Netflix, Redbox or HBOGO.

I have access to WatchESPN and hboGO through family. It's legit.

I still pay $50/month for internet which is insane to me.

Roku 3 is pretty damn awesome... but fair warning, the remotes suck arse. Out of 3 different Rokus I have 2 with remotes that quit working. There is a phone app but it's a pain in the balls having to turn your phone on every time you want to switch shows.

If he wants to watch games at home, I can think of a few reasons.

Me too. And that's why I can't make the switch. And I have ONE tv.
