I see restaurants doing reservations only, so will other businesses, only come in when called, leave when finished, etc.

There's a laundry list of reasons this will not become the norm, but purely from a social justice/leftist standpoint: This makes goods and services inaccessible to all. You gonna be the first person to decline service to a poor person or a minority because they didn't make a reservation?

Ha. Good luck with that.

Things will get back to "normal" in the same way they got back to "normal" after 9/11. After all this is said and done, what is the restaurant scene going to be like? What about movie theaters? And then you got to think about China. That gravy train is over with for good after this. What are the political ramifications of that? What does that do to your pocketbook? I don't have the answers to this, but knowing the CCP, I'm nervous about it.

LOL things will 100% go back to normal.... Hopefully, however, the hand washing and hygiene practices stick around. If people would routinely follow those practices, the flu numbers would be down annually!

Do you think people in say...1990 would think 2000 was very normal behavior? Let alone 2010 or 2020. Just the availability of information and going to the Internet for everything vs asking someone and/or looking around locally.

Yeah, dropping 2006 Me into 2019 I would be very bewildered with the state of the world. Going into a bar and just seeing everyone looking down at their iPhones would be Orwellian to me... and the fact of the matter is that it is Orwellian we've just grown used to it.

None of that will be happening by August for most of the country.

Personally I think the heat is going to kill it off, but we will still be social distancing in the summer and bracing ourselves for the second wave to start in November/December. We'll be eating in restaurants by the end of May or the beginning of June, but we will be spread out. Summer 2021 I think things will get back to what we will refer to as "normal", but the world will have changed forever from this.

EDIT.... the fact that lefties are comparing this to 9/11 should tell you all you need to know.

I mean, it's worse than 9/11. Way more people have been killed by it in NYC alone. And this is going to have major, major ramifications with China, which changes everything from a geopolitical perspective.

I even saw one person on fb claim that if you get this virus then you have a 9/10 chance of dying.

She probably heard that once you get on a ventilator, you have a 9/10 chance of dying, which is true (88% to be precise), but that also shows that the ventilator thing was slightly overblown (still saved 12% so can't say it's a total disaster).

Good.

Our normal was stupid. All we talked about were bullshite issues.

Gender bathrooms, fake racism, etc. Manufactured outrage because people were so fricking bored with having it good.

Hope the new normal is people being focused on important issues. Not to let those frickers succeed in working their racism stories and 1% of the population catering.

obama did his best to destroy the economy and then started spouting that BS about this is the new normal

now they use bat flu to ruin the economy and they (MSM) start saying this shite again

its clear they see the path to socialism and a global government as only possible if america is destroyed or in ruins even if they have to do it through fake news

I wonder how movie theaters, theme parks, water parks, cruise lines, sports venues, and the like will fare the rest of this year. Social distancing and significant reductions to capacity are a nonstarter for all these types of places. Aside from movie theaters, these types of places and businesses don't have a comparable alternative if they are closed.

The 'new normal' in my lifetime is that more and more and more Americans have become fraidy-cat-pussy-whiny-babies...

People are legitimately terrified of this thing. The constant "stay at home" demandings by all the celebrities, healthcare workers, tv ads has really affected people's psyche and morality.

Yeah, I switch over to watch some of the draft yesterday and there's Wingo doing a 5-minute Covid-19 interview with some former player who is now a doctor, followed by a creepy music video by some folks who I guess were singers/celebrities, but not sure.

Well, to the extent time does not flow backwards, things won't go back to some previous version of 'normal.' Trying to revert to some previous time, while sometimes tempting, is a fool's errand.

It will be tough sledding for these businesses to get back going. The narrative by those who have hijacked this thing is to shut all these things down the rest of the year, even before there is any real evidence at this point in time to prove that is necessary.
