Besides the Zoo, Aquarium, WW2 Museum, Children's Museum and Insectarium
I have 2 boys, 11&6. After a harrowing car ride through central city and introducing them to the Hustler Club, what else should be on itinerary?

Take them to a cemetery and go headstone tipping.
On a serious note. Jean Lafitte Park.

City park: paddle boats, rental buggy style bikes, feed the ducks, train ride, Storyland, amusement park, etc etc

Fck you people suck with this stuff.
OP, you could damn near make a whole day of it at City Park. Start with beignets at the Morning Call in the park. Feed the ducks and play on the play ground.
They have a 36 hole putt putt course that's pretty nice.
There is a rental area by the Museum of Art that rents paddle boats, canoes, multi person bikes. There are lots of areas to ride around the park.
If you've never been, the little amusement park is pretty fun for the kids. Mine are older now, but they still like to go ride the train through the park.
Take your kids to ride the street car after breakfast or something.
Depending on when you are in the city, they may have a festival or kids event that they might like.

I like to let them swim while I enjoy a beverage and a nice lunch.

Drop em off with me on Sunday morning. They'll get a religion lesson and visit the oldest bar in the country.

Definitely avoid Hand Grenades, too much sugar.
