If you like music, I'd recommend going on the Gibson guitar factory tour. It was very interesting to me. You get to see every step of the production of the guitars they make there. It's not a very long tour and won't eat up a lot of your day. Make reservations though.

Was there two weeks ago.
Gus' world famous fried chicken
Central BBQ ribs were good.
Both Were pretty good
Went to Rendezvous and brisket was good but the ribs sucked.

Also went to Sun studio- decent tour
Graceland- ok long wait and hot as hell
Beale st.
Jerry Lee Lewis' honky Tonk was pretty good.
BB kings was decent. Had a spot on corner across from Wet Willies was good, young 25-35 crowd scenery was good. Decent band. Can't remember name.

BBQ shop on Madison in midtown is my favorite BBQ in Memphis/ Get the sandwich there.

For BBQ nachos, Central BBQ is my go to option.

A lot of great recommendations in this thread. I lived in Memphis for 6 years and loved it. I have heard that Midtown has really become a cool spot in the last couple of years. The entire area around Local has new bars and breweries from what I have been told. Those are options if you want to get away from downtown.

Automatic Slims has a pretty good brunch if you are interested in that...very close to the Peabody.

I lived in Memphis for four years and I moved away this week. I'm going to miss it, but I won't deny that it's a complete dump in many ways.

There are good rec's in this thread except for Rendevous. That place is over rated.

Awesome suburb. I actually did not like living in the area until we moved to Collierville.

Go to the Memphis zoo and help them find escaped monkey?
Monkey Escaped form Memphis ZOo
Afterward go the Overton Square for food and drinks, see who is playing at Lafayette's Music Room at night?

I came here to post this exact thing.

At first, I heard it was a 600 pound gorilla. To find it it was a 10 pound Macaque was kinda disappointing. Until they showed video of the escape. Little dude just scaled the wall and jumped out. Apparently, because he wanted to play, and the other monkeys didn't. So he made his own fun. At least that's what the news said.
