When I lived up there we'd just laugh at the predicaments Texans would get themselves in on the slopes. It was always a Texan....

Breckenridge is always a preferred town for skiers because it's laid out nicely and has a lot of bars and restaurants. I'm not a fan of the slopes there, but the town itself makes it a great trip for the casual vacation skier. You will enjoy the hell out of it.

there will most definitely be rafting. You will have to drive a bit to do it.

May is dead in the mtn towns, as it may be 70 or you may get 20 inches of snow. They call it mud season, and a lot of shops and restaurants will be closed. Breck less so than other areas since its got a real town.

Hiking is also going to be hit or miss.

Performance Rafting Tours We used these guys but later in the summer. They can put you on a real good ride. Look at taking The Numbers, while we did not take this one because of small kids, our guide said he could run this one every day an not get tired of it...

quote:

Action packed whitewater from the moment you hit the river! The Numbers can best be described as steep, narrow and technical, with rigorous paddling required from the onset! This is a great adrenaline pumping river trip for anyone in good physical condition looking for an exciting, scenic, and challenging whitewater adventure! Our full day trip stops alongside the river for a delicious lunch and covers twice as much river as the 1/2 day trip. Class Type: IV - V
