Notice he doesn’t call Clyde a coward, a guy who murdered multiple innocent people.

not a coward but B&C had previously embarrassed him, and they had vowed not to be taken alive and had already made some near impossible escapes, I think ole baw was there to conduct bidness

They do this on the weekend closest to the anniversary of the ambush every year. It’s part of the Bonnie and Clyde festival in Gibsland. The actual ambush site is closest to the community of Sailes.

amazing how the mentality of law enforcement has changed. They unloaded on a known animal and eliminated all risks before they had a chance to do what cops knew they would do. And no one cared, citizens saw the big picture. Now cops have to get blown away and are expected to just stand there and take it.

IDK if crowds collected at the ambush site but when the bodies were brought to the undertaker in Arcadia it turned into a three ring circus scene.

For years and years (and maybe still today) people would dig in the trees there looking for bullets, even though the pine trees growing there were harvested multiple times in the ensuing decades. People also chipped the original granite marker stone erected by the police jury until it was pretty much unreadable. A few years ago the PJ placed heavy bronze marker beside the old one. But the B&C thing does bring a few tourists to Bienville Parish, which is very rural and sparsely populated.

That coward was not about to give Clyde Barrow a shot.

Call them cowards if you want. Bonnie and Clyde got shot the frick down just like they did to others.

Now Dillinger was shot down cold in cold blood.

Seeing a dead criminal was big entertainment back in those days. The more infamous they were, the bigger the crowd. People would take souvenirs off the bodies or try to their pictures taken with the body if there was a photographer in town.

That was the only possible end for Bonnie and Clyde. I don't think they were willing to be taken alive. It was either have a shootout with them, risking more lawmen being killed, or shoot on sight not giving them the opportunity to shoot their way out.

Because he was known to indiscriminately shoot at any person in his way? How does that make him admirable? He wanted no part of many in a UFC ring. So who’s tough?

Nobody wanted a shootout with Clyde.

He might have been better with a BAR than any other man of the day. He was extremely fast and deadly accurate with his custom BAR. He had the stock cut down not only to make it easier to hide, but Clyde was a very small man. He was only 5'7 and thin. The gun fit him better when cut down.

This is a replica of Clyde's rifle.

Hamer's plan was an ambush. He claimed he was going to give them a fair chance to surrender.

He never intended any such thing. He only made that bogus claim to make himself look good.

You think Clyde wasn’t deceptive? They killed multiple innocent people and were playing a dirty arse game.
