Them boys were scared to shoot it out with Clyde Barrow.

Not because Clyde was so bad, but because he was that good.

Did the use the same weapons? That sounded like shotguns instead of rifles.

Clyde's favorite gun was the BAR...

Could you imagine being pelted with 30-O6 rounds out an automatic weapon..

I think some of the guys had BARs as well...

quote:

Dallas County Sheriffs Ted Hinton and Bob Alcorn explained the happenings in their statements after the event:

Each of us six officers had a shotgun and an automatic rifle and pistols. We opened fire with the automatic rifles. They were emptied before the car got even with us. Then we used shotguns…. There was smoke coming from the car, and it looked like it was on fire. After shooting the shotguns, we emptied the pistols at the car, which had passed us and ran into a ditch about 50 yards on down the road. It almost turned over. We kept shooting at the car even after it stopped. We weren’t taking any chances.

Frank Hamer's Remington Model 8. Hamer claimed he planned to yell at them to surrender, but the local deputies cut down on them before he had a chance to.

Cameraman “PrimeTime83” is not ready for prime time.

That was terrible.

IDK if crowds collected at the ambush site but when the bodies were brought to the undertaker in Arcadia it turned into a three ring circus scene.

Tough situation, if you just shoot the tires out or something, they come out firing. It’s easy to minimize the harm they did, these people shot and killed multiple innocent people. I still believe in due process but can understand the decision made.

If you think Hamer was a coward you are clueless.
