can assure you that there has been plenty of discussion in the upper admin at LSU(off the record of course,) and BoS regarding this hire, it very closely resembles this forum, Tate was considered the least qualified or desired candidate and his hire was more or less forced on LSU

How? The governor? It was a 15-0 vote. What is the backstory?

Oh wow, it actually got even better. He pulled the “I promise I know but can’t say more, else I’ll be outside the circle of trust” card before deleting that last post

This whole situation reminds me of a similar situation at Arkansas back in 2002.

We had fired Nolan Richardson (after he asked us to) and he was claiming that the university was racist. In the replacement head coach search Bill Self was ready to roll, but the powers-that-be wanted a diversity hire to show that we weren't racist, so we hired Stan Heath. Picking Heath over Self set the program back almost 20 years.

Sounds like they set ya'll up to be paralyzed.

Naysayers have to be noisy. You have to pull money, and when you do you need to be over the top about why. Race is a irrelevant. The issue is having a President committed to an ideology that is anti-science, anti-merit, anti-academic rigor.

At this point, I'm convinced that some people will still be mumbling "it's just politics, stop melting over everything" while people are actually being forced into ovens for being white.

What’s mind blowing is that everyone doesn’t recognize how biased the media at all levels is, especially when you have these blatantly obvious examples right in front of you.

This really is true and disturbing. When ABC News put out that video claiming it was a battle between the Kurds and the Turks and it wound up to be a nighttime machine gun demonstration from a gun range in Kentucky that should have been all people needed to know about what bullshite liars the liberal media outlets are.

Yet we still have lefties hanging on to their every word. Sickening

This entire thing is so sad

First, and foremost, I absolutely think Tate is qualified. He is a smart man and very accomplished in Academia. He is absolutely qualified for the position

Whats upsetting though is, we cant even bring up his own publications and theories without the accusation of racism. Its maddening. The same people hesitant on Tate didnt like F.King. Its based on principles and teachings, not race. If Dr. Ben Carson was named president, this board would love it.

Now, in saying that, I will give Tate a chance. Im not rooting for the pilot of my plane to crash. But I am anxious as his past publications are a bit intense and scary for the leader of a university that should put objective measures first

fricking stupid arse NPC leftists who can't think of anything other than "racist!!!!"

If LSU hired a white person with this much Critical Race Theory background TD would be melting just as hard. Just as if Ben Carson was hired we'd love it.

I think it's a really bad sign for LSU's future that he was writing papers about CRT all the way back in 1995.

Regardless of the outward optics, the vote was NOT even close to unanimous. There was a lot fighting early on over Darden and anyone else. After Darden was dismissed, certain committee members started pushing hard for Tate and attacked anyone else as racist if they pushed back.
