True, but more would have died too. A glaring omission

It was glaringly evident very early on that the elderly were at the highest risk. Instead of protecting them, all we did was blanket closures to “flatten the curve”

We still aren’t protecting the vulnerable, but making the appearance that something is being done by issuing draconian business sanctions and enforcing mask rules.

Louisiana's restrictions were entirely unjustified. Some measures were necessary for the NOLA and BR areas but statewide was unnecessary. If Louisiana's voters were smart they would recall his arse ASAP, but Louisiana voters are stupid and stupidity has its consequences.

And basically knowing not a whole lot about the virus what other option would you choose?

My issue is when the facts started to present themselves we remained in lock down and are still in phase 1.
They were trying to flatten the curve. What learned fact afterward would lend to doing anything differently?

Mardi Gras is what screwed la
If not for that and all the tourists that came in rates would have been lower
Not to mention half of la goes skiing or to Disney world which didn’t help either

part time (2 days a week at school, the rest at home).
That makes no sense. If you’re gonna do that, may as well go all 5 days. Somebody with anxiety came up with that option. Both of my kids are in Catholic School and if we go back to school at home, I’m strongly giving thought to pulling them out and going public school route. Because at that point, I’m paying tuition for nothing in return.

And wouldn't choose to ruin people's life work as the first option. Probably start by limiting mass events and requiring businesses to make small adjustments, and go from there.

Considering the rules you and your ilk operate under, that's hilarious.

I know that’s difficult to understand for someone like you.

Who is "someone like me", exactly?

Someone who wanted to wait until we knew what we were dealing with before we made this political or jumped to extremes? Someone who wasn't going to mock others while trying to have a civilized discussion? That kind of person?

People like you do NOTHING to help in times like this. NOTHING.

You are like the media idiots that, instead of trying to ask logical questions on how to fight this, try to play the race card instead. You offer nothing of value to anything other than being a know it all dick that knows nothing.

The worst part is, you continue to vote and support for those who are openly destroying everything, and you do it with glee to "own the cons".

So, yeah, keep being a smartass. It is hilarious to watch.

Published March 9, before any lockdowns were implemented

There was plenty of good, comprehensive data available to make informed decisions about how to handle this well before it was decided to crash the economy and ruin tens of millions of lives. The decision makers instead chose to rely on the doomsday models created from terrible data to impose their will, and sheep like you just went along with it instead of educating yourselves.

That’s what a lot of people will do and the reason they’ll have to go back. They’ll already lose some students due to parents losing their jobs. If I have to teach my kids at home I’m not paying 1,500 a month to do it.

Non elderly and perfectly healthy people have died from this. Are you ok with it being you?

There have been far more elderly people that have recovered from this than there are non-elderly people that died from it.

Non elderly and perfectly healthy people die from the flu every year. Are you ok with the country shutting down from November-April every year?

Non elderly and perfectly healthy people die from motor vehicle accidents every year. Are you turning in all your vehicles to your government overlords to make sure you’re not one of them?

People like you that want to live in fear can stay locked in your homes and buy a hazmat suit for when you do want to venture out into the world. The rest of us shouldn’t have to have our lives significantly altered because you’re willingly overreacting about something.

Yes. I’ve accepted I’m going to die at some point.

I agree. Adjusting to real world problems >. Freaking out and shutting everything down.

You're an opportunists dream..

Yes, I am willing to chance catching the virus to not lock down everything. It is well within acceptable risk tolerance.

well, for one i’m not going to treat the entire country with a blanket policy.

Orla, TX has a population around 100 in the middle of a fricking desert.
Which is about as polar opposite of the NYC metro area as can be.

don’t treat them the same.

or on a more local note.
Pointe-Aux-Chenes and NOLA ain’t very similar either. So a blanket policy is not the best option.

Treat each of them according to what going in that particular area.
