Not sure what happened, but they have already done stuff for him before. His family was helping him just earlier this year when he got a car. He works at WM in Walker. Don’t know why he needs a car again.

See him all the time.

Had no clue he was walking to work/school.

I'll give him a ride when I see him.

Some of the shite that dude wears is amusing.

Used to walk with that super huge sombrero and shite.

He'll just end up being another uninsured driver on our roads.

You can get liability only on and old car for around 35/month at some places. He will be fine.

The extra “y” In her name can be explained By reading the GoFundMe page. OMG the writing is a train wreck. Also....oddly specific car request? Why would I subject anyone to a 2000 Firebird? Maybe she’s taking a page from the classic gift giving mantra “Give the gift you would like to receive.”

Not in Louisiana. Liability only for someone with little to no driving experience is going to cost $100/month minimum.

I'm usually very cynical about donation drives for pretty much anything but I k ow this guy, not really friends just acquaintances. It's legit. To be honest he will probably be upset that people are doing this. But the guy doesnt have a running vehicle and people are just trying to get him some wheels to make his life easier.

My question would then be are these good intentions robbing this guy of a struggle/experience that is causing positive growth in his life.

Early in my career I took a bunch of extra work at night and in addition to my my normal work in an attempt to pay off my loans prior to having other financial obligations. Worked at a lot of sketchy, downtrodden facilities sometimes late into the evening. What started as a pain in the arse almost became like a drug as the loans continued to go down. When I closed them out there was a massive sense of accomplishment that lasted for weeks and has likely had a net positive impact on my life even 12 years later.

I suspect this guy is experiencing some of this as well, probably significantly more so due to the physical toll in simply getting to his destination. It’s awesome that these folks are getting him a car. It may not be as awesome as the feeling of accomplishment he is working towards in making his walk and obtaining a car through his own means and motivation. Only he really knows and I don’t think he’d be wrong for being appreciative of the assistance or not wanting the help at all.
