People also don't take into account that physical labor will more often than not frick you up physically.
I could probably do my current job until I die or lose my mind. Tough to remain a baw when you're staring down your 3rd back surgery and your left shoulder hasn't really worked properly since that one job 8 years ago.

Boomers and Gen X. One group that had everything handed to them on a silver platter and act like they invented America and another that saw their parents were fricking everything up but were too lazy to shite about it b/c they were still going to get theirs before everything implodes. They are both pretty good at blaming the younger gens that have almost zero power for all their cock ups though. So there's that.
Bingo

Pay is not the issue, younger people just have shite work ethic.
It costs money to learn a trade. Money that's hard to save when you don't know a trade.

You wouldn’t believe the simple tasks that the under 40 crowd pay for someone to do. I swear they don’t own any tools…..not even a screwdriver.
I paid someone $300 last night to unclog my toilet. Wasn't even a plumber.
Is this a you don't even own a plunger thing, or your kid flushed a shoe down the toilet and it's way down the line somewhere thing?

My son, 23, is working on his electrical apprenticeship. He's doing his time in attics and the elements. He's doing good making $17 and hour until the end of the year then will be making +/- 30hr. Then he wants to run his own electrical business later.

50 years ago, sure. Technology is as dominant today in the blue collar world as it is the white collar.

My son just turned 23. He has had his plumbers journeyman’s card for about 6 months now. He makes $25/hr, works average if 45 hrs week and has a take home truck which keeps his personal fuel expense down. Company he works for does exclusively new construction. Works M-F and off weekends. With the overtime and few side jobs he does, is on pace to make $60k this year.
Imagine being 23, no college debt, $60k year, wear t shirt and shorts to work most days. Not a bad life. He is a smart kid (street smarts/common sense) and a hard worker. But he isn’t a student. He never would have made it thru college. Not everyone is meant for a desk job/sales job.
And since he has my genetics, he is a good looking kid and snagged him a little cutie that will graduate in May as a dental hygienist. She already has a job lined up paying about $65 year. They are getting married in October. I think they will be just fine.

Skilled workers have an opportunity to make a nice living
Correct.
The trades are naming their own price right now. It's like Monopoly money.

I’m 33 and been working in corporate finance for years. If I could switch to a trade without having to move or decrease my family’s lifestyle, I’d do it tomorrow.

What do you think is fair?
It’s not a difficult concept.
Exactly. Folks like to talk about what pay is "fair" as if anyone's opinion matters in the market. If what you're offering doesn't get the job done, then it's not "fair".

Skilled labor workforce has been in decline for far too long
Because you make average money unless you own the company. HVAC technicians in the south make about $40k a year. Nobody is switching careers for that.

I skipped the middleman (trade job) and just went straight to the pill addiction.

You can’t unclog a toilet on your own? If plunger doesn’t work, but a plumber snake from Walmart for 10 bucks and run it down the drain

Somewhere over the last 5 years I fell off that cliff and I swear I’m now retarded with computers. It’s almost like my brain has closed shop on how to learn and maintain basic computer skills.
I use a computer daily for work. I am about to start yelling at clouds.

Many trades have apprentice programs. Get paid while learning.
Now where the hell is the board stretcher!!
