Police never caught this guy?

He claims to have killed 37 people.

Has to be one of the serial killing GOATs.

Doubt he killed as many as he claimed. I think only 5 or so murders are actually attributed to him. It is one of the infamous unsolved crimes of all time though.

This would have been the perfect crime for a psychic to solve. I guess they were busy.

He lived in BR.

Or at least his son claims he did. Son has something to do with Delta Tech in BR, wrote a book last year.

Most of the proof in that book was extremely flimsy and has been debunked. The guy was just out to sell books.

He used to post here. He's fricked several LLOTOT and pretty sure ended up marrying one of them.

The Boston Stranger

One day in July, 1962, the Boston Herald screamed from its front page, “Mad Strangler Kills Four Women In Boston!” It was a case that gripped the public’s imagination—and its resolution may turn out to be no resolution at all.Between 1962 and 1964, thirteen women ranging in age from nineteen to eighty-five were murdered in the Boston area. All were strangled with silk stockings; nearly all were sexually assaulted; and there was never any sign of forced entry into their homes.

In October 1964, a man who had been arrested for raping a woman in her own house—Albert DeSalvo—confessed in detail to the killings, and was convicted.DeSalvo was able to describe details of the crime scenes which had not been made public, but inexplicably, he also got many of these details wrong. At the time of his confession, he was an inmate in a mental institution, and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison. But the inconsistencies of his confession—inaccurate times of death, method of strangulation, and so on—were never addressed. More alarmingly, police had always been of the opinion that the murders were likely the work of more than one person—and indeed, DNA evidence has exonerated DeSalvo of one of the killings to which he had confessed.

John E. Douglas, an FBI agent who worked on the case and one of the first-ever criminal profilers, has stated that—based on DeSalvo’s profile—he is unlikely to have committed the murders, but very likely to have wanted to claim credit for them. Which means that even though the murders are more than forty years old, the possibility exists that one of the most notorious serial killers in history is still out there.

--------

The Doodler, also known as the Black Doodler, is an unidentified serial killer believed responsible for 14 slayings and three assaults of men in the gay community of San Francisco, California between January 1974 and September 1975.[1] The nickname was given due to the perpetrator's habit of sketching his victims prior to having sex with them and then stabbing them to death. The perpetrator met his victims at gay nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

Honestly, I didn't read it. Happened to have Delta Tech doing work for us when this story surfaced so it stuck in my head. The pictures do look similar, but I could put a modern day hipster in a side by side and get similar results.

Honestly the 2007 Zodiac film may be one of the most underrated films of that entire decade, even if it wasn't 100% historically accurate.

He's more like the LBJ of serial killers.

Jack the ripper is the MJ. 127 years and still unsolved.

He's the GM at delta tech. I used to work there. I don't think he claimed that zodiac ever lived in BR but more or less abandoned him there while passing through town.

His use of code in his taunting letter was certainly intriguing, especially since many of those codes have never been able to be deciphered.

Those codes are seriously odd and right out of a CSI script.

I do wonder why he stopped killing and communicating. That is odd for a killer to just stop. Was he arrested elsewhere, or put in an institution, killed, died of natural causes or what??? Where did he just disappear to?
