Saw on Twitter. Thought the OT might find it interesting as well. Crazy to see how the world has changed.

I wonder what year (according to this graphic) the United Kingdom became a democracy.

Some countries that are technically a democracy are far from it in reality. Still is the best time to be alive beyond that small tidbit.

Dont have to worry about poverty or real problems anymore, so now SJWs can commit their lives to transgender bathroom priveleges and rights for thugs correctly killed by police

The people who put the Democracy graph together apparently consider communism to be democratic. Around 1918, the Russian government moved from czarist to communist, and the chart shows a small jump there. Also look for the Chinese transition to communism in 1949, which should be noticeable because of population there. The only thing around that time is a big increase.

India got it's independence in 1947, A lot of Asian/European countries held their first elections since being liberated from the Germans and Japanese between 1946-50.

Ok, so the Chinese revolution concluded shortly after that and the population there compared to the world population was and is relatively large. There's at least no decrease shown on the graph, so again, the party responsible for the graph believes communism is democratic.

Probably has more to do with the fall of European monarchies generally at that time. And in the very early years before the Bolsheviks finally took over for good Russia was kinda/sorta a democracy.

Shouldn't have had any impact at all. China wasn't a democracy before that and wasn't after either. However, India became independent so that probably accounts for it.
