My hospital actually got the freezer, though. It’s the actual administration of vaccines that is a cluster in LA.

I agree - that was a decision made by our corporate office in Nashville. They did not want staff involved in administration. So now we have a hospital full of nurses who are not allowed to administer the vaccine, which sits on a shelf for 3 weeks until a Walgreens pharmacist can fit it into the schedule.

If you didn't care you wouldn't reply. I just don't understand why everyone - like you- feels so dedicated to fighting for the idea that the vaccine is even needed. When the choice is the obliteration of American prosperity or some people die from underlying conditions that is no contest.
Christ, if I get covid and have a bad reaction I'll die. The end. Who fricking cares? I would rather my kids have a country that is worth a shite...
Give it up. To the Chinese Flu True Believers it's a matter of faith. They could care less about statistical realities or, more importantly, your rights. The vaccine is the holy sacrament of their emotional religion.

My pharmacy has a waiting list of 2700 people as of closing today and the other pharmacies I spoke to today have similar numbers waiting. State only gave 106 pharmacies 100 vaccines. The demand is there.

It’s a giant clusterfrick bc all local doctor offices are calling us to get on a list bc they aren’t getting any in their office. Who knows what the actual truth is

We gave 200 doses the week of the 4th. We are giving almost that many this week. We begin 2nd shot boosters next week.
We’ve expanded distribution from direct health care workers, to MD office staff, and now teachers and childcare workers.
Seems to be going fine to me.

The current vaccines are approved under an Emergency Use Authorization. You’re not going to call your local doctor and get one at this point. These were intended for front line health workers initially, followed by nursing homes, and then the elderly starting in January. This could all be managed centrally. Anyone who thinks they are going to get the vaccine from their GP right now is naive.

Most metro GP don’t vaccinate anymore whether it’s flu, pneumonia, shingles or now covid. They send the patients to us to get vaccinated. I don’t know if rural GP still vaccinate but mine said they’ll never do another one in office.

Never underestimate the ineffectiveness of gov't. EVER.

It's the perfect scenario, if that's what was actually said.
It's a win for the Left either way:
"Trump is a tyrant by using the military to inoculate Americans on American soil."
Or if it doesn't happen (current scenario):
"Trump has failed to live up to his promises, and it's clear the federal government has no plan."

There are enough conspiracy lunatics already.
I don't see the reason we need military doctors or nurses actually injecting people in the US when we already have thousands of nurses, doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies that can handle this like they do the flu vaccine. That wasn't what the Feds wanted to do, although it may have been suggested. It's a bad idea and a misuse of our military infrastructure.
If we were trying to vaccinate or distribute food to remote parts of Africa, the Sudan, or Alabama, the military would make sense. For now, we only need their help to facilitate a more efficient, secure supply chain during the earlier days of vaccine distribution when there was concern people might steal it.
By now, everything should be going through typical supply chains that other refrigerated drugs go through. They've had this vaccine for weeks now and are ramping up production. They haven't had a security problem other than that conspiracy nut in Wisconsin.
Remember, even if you don't get the vaccine until March, other people in your community are getting it (teachers, doctors, nurses, paramedics) and are helping prevent the spread. So you are indirectly benefiting from the vaccine now even if you aren't in a group that gets it.
And for the record, Texas is doing a better job than most states on communicating what people are being prioritized for the vaccine supply as it arrives. Louisiana is actually not doing that badly at it despite my complaints about JBE's authoritarian politics. Florida is actually doing pretty well too given the high demand for the vaccine there and the aging population of the state. No state is going to pinpoint a specific date for any particular person because they aren't certain how many doses they will get in the meantime.
Based on what I've seen and read, everyone that wants a vaccine will likely have it by late April, if not earlier. They are prioritizing the first shipments to nursing home patients, the elderly, and front line workers as they should be. Next step will probably be teachers, day care workers, essential employees in the food service industry and factory workers that have to be in close proximity with others. After that, the rest of us that are working from home and would like to return to normal will start getting it - likely by March.
My only complaint during this whole thing is the lack of communication from the states. But they have been improving that rapidly over the past few days. Even Louisiana.

Texas....439,000 doses administered already. 254 of 254 counties already administered doses. But yeah, nobody wants it. You just hang around with idiots. And to the OP, this is how it's done. Blame your state for their failure to have a plan.
Correct. And very soon there will be some large scale vaccination centers set up in Houston. I think Minute Maid Park will be one. This is being done by the City of Houston. As a Rodeo volunteer, I received an email asking for volunteers for the sites. They are asking for:
1. Licensed Medical Professionals to give vaccines
2. Logistics help...moving things, directing crowds, etc.
3. Administrative help...having folks fill out paperwork, telling them about the vaccine, etc.
If you volunteer, you are Tier 1a in Texas (a healthcare worker) and can receive the vaccine.

Sure, there is a first-wave that REALLY wants it. What is not happening is the second wave... People are ambivalent.
I know many people who've had COVID or are younger and healthy who could receive the vaccine because they work in healthcare. They are waiting a few months because they want others to have access first. They are planning on getting it later...not feeling ambivalent.

This. Saying so has become a cliche which is unfortunate. It's probably much worse than many people think.
I worked for state government and it was a bureaucratic nightmare. Hard as hell to get anything done. I left in absolute disgust.

That was obviously not a promise that the current leadership intended to keep. It's a shame, really it is..
I remember democrats saying there wouldn't be a vaccine by now and even if there was they wouldn't take it because of Trump. You people really are true filth.
And then let's not forget the push to get it to other countries first and Frontline workers first.
So sorry little t baw can't get his vaccine while you sit in your basement wearing your mask.

Literally dozens
I've had friends say they would in the past several months but not a single one is actually trying. They bitched about the tests, but never went and got tested when it was easy to do so.
It was all a sham to make it seem like they actually cared about people dying when it was really just OMB.

Again, this is totally unrelated to the slow roll out. Literally everywhere where appointments have been offered has seen their phone lines and/or online reservation system basically crash.
My aunt and uncle in Florida tried calling the Lee County over 500 times in 60 minutes and never got through. They booked all 5,000 appointments for the week in an hour.
Luckily they got appointments in another county as did my parents

I agree. I was addressing the person that said there won't be a 2nd wave of folks taking the vaccine. That people were not interested. There are many who will get it later and are in Tier 1, but are allowing others to get them first.
