Almost nine years to the day after it was transformed from a dingy but beloved local arthouse theater to New Orleans’ first dine-in moviehouse, Regal Cinemas’ posh but customer-strapped Cinebarre Canal Place, which previously operated as The Theatres at Canal Place, will close its doors May 23.

This is disappointing. Was a pretty nice way to watch a movie.

Didn’t they complete some nice renovations of this place not too long ago?

Guess Drew Brees couldn't support it by himself.

This is what pisses me off. Why announce the closing 3 days before? They knew this was coming. Let people use their gift cards. At least give 2 weekends notice.

This kind of sucks. Was my goto movie theatre if Prytania Theatre wasn't featuring what I wanted to see.

I like the idea of ordering a cocktail during a movie but the food was awful. Hopefully someone will revamp this theatre.

I believe so, the recliner seats are pleasant to sit in.

Belle Promenade, Oakwood and Lakeside theaters will accept the gift cards. Enjoy.

RIP. Was a quality date night for me and the Mrs. But with the suburban theaters now also offering food delivered to your seat and a well-stocked bar, there was less and less reason to go to Canal.

Didn't they renovate it roughly 10 years ago?

not surprised at all, unfortunately since they sold out to Cinebarre the place has been a disaster

From the top down the experience went down the tubes.

I'll miss the way it was, used to be a nice escape spot relative to other movie theaters

Just coming to post this. The place used to be AWESOME. No kids, quality employees, quality food and drinks.

Once they sold it became a total disaster. Completely stopped going.

I live uptown but Elmwood has always been my go to theater for the Dolby Cinema theater they have as well as not paying out the arse for parking like I'd have to to go to Canal Place.
