Back before Katrina, when it first opened it was clean and had a different vibe cf. the other theaters. Different screens also served as meeting rooms for groups staying at the hotel.

I think this theater was renovated like 5, maybe 10 years back

I think the thing is here, is that if they would've just renovated this place at some point over the last decade, they wouldn't be having these issues.

Once the "dinner, drinks, movie" concept expanded to the suburbs, this place had a signed death warrant. No reason to deal with going to the city, paying for parking, etc, when you can get the same experience in the burbs.
Solomon saw that and sold out just in time. Apparently the Regal people weren't too smart.
