Yes, the South Bay (Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo beach) - is all absolutely hideous…. Same with Bel Air, Hollywood Hills, Mulholland Drive, Malibu- just terrible places……
Madison MS is nice too

Guns N Roses at the Roxy or Trabadour had to be insane thing to experience. What a time to be alive.

I have a weird obsession with the history of different businesses located on and around Sunset Strip. It's just interesting to know what's come and gone over the years.

My work used to take me to LA and the odd time to SF in the mid-70's to the mid-80's.
They were great times and today is a political and cultural mess. No thanks.

Or to have caught Zeppelin and The Doors at the Whiskey. Or been a regular at The Comedy Store in the 70s/80s.

Just some parts. Get outside of the city and there are areas that are still great. There are also some rednecks in OC that rival most Louisiana baws.

OC is beautiful. I love Coto de Caza, Anaheim Hills and Mission Viejo.

The comedy clubs all over L.A. are pretty cool. I used to go to the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa a lot when I live there and some nights there would be A-list comedians randomly pop up and do sets testing new material. Daniel Tosh used to go there because he lived in Hermosa at the time.

I was there in 88 or 89 and it was crazy then... I heard it got even worse in the early-90s

Timothy Dalton had a Licence to Kill.
Most underrated multi-film Bond. (Lazenby is a polarizing figure...I tend to believe like Dalton, he's the closest to Fleming's vision of 007.)

As for the topic at hand, the only place that has had a bigger change than the Sunset Strip is the Vegas Strip. I stood at my hotel room window yesterday morning and took a long look at the Mirage volcano. It sounded cool when I first read about it but that damn guitar is going to close off the view to the north. The Trump hotel will be blocked by it and TI will barely be viable. Change is inevitable but it doesn't mean that we have to like it.

Yep. But the city proper is shockingly disgusting.

Spent a summer there in ‘91. Mid ages of hair music. Hollywood was something to see. Buddy from college was from Pasadena and had a family house on Laguna Beach. Invited me to spend the Summer. No idea why he came south for school after spending a summer there.
