We had TWO of those in our front yard growing up. I had to take a portable air blower to it everyday. There were so many zaps that it would clog up every night. That thing went off all night like a machine gun.

Wish there was a liberal zapper. Lol

There is a hobby, even used by researchers, called insect black lighting. You basically put out black, uv, and other type light, hang a reflective backdrop like a white sheet, and wait for the bugs to swarm in......and swarm they do. They come in to the lights by the thousands, bugs that otherwise wouldn't be there. It is a fantastic method of finding what insects are in an area, and different ones show up at different times of night.

The most popular type light used are those that come from old bug zappers, UV lights. They are wonderful at drawing insects from far around, like a bug magnet. Mosquitoes are not attracted to the UV light, so that helps the whole endeavor. Though, that does mean that the zapper hanging on a porch or side of a house kills practically no mosquitoes, but it does kill a boatload of other insects......insects that very likely wouldn't have been there at all if not for the UV light on the zapper.
